  1. On the other hand, when I first say the trailer for The Apprentice, I leaned over to my wife and told her that I was certain that that show was going to be a hit. The Apprentice trailer told me clearly that business is the real jungle, and getting a high-paid exec job as an end goal is far more exciting that getting a million bucks

Maybe you are not interested in watching a show where someone wins a million dollars. There are lot of people are motivated by money and it is very exciting to watch someone become wealthy after an exciting, eventful, fun, motivating, hilarious reality show.

  6. Hi, my name is James Stanley, and I own a film company called “4 of a Kind” Productions. I Have to let you know I think your trailer was excellent. Great choice of shots, excellent music, def. told a story, with it all being very entertaining to the viewer. However I don’t think the little kid thing will stand.. Couple Reasons Why:For the first 10 Sec. The whole little kid thing is beautiful, I love it.. but realistically you couldn’t do it with outkeeping your viewers interested for more then2 episodes. Because EVERYBODY knows, that your company would go to shit, IF A 10 year old was in charge. It is not possible for a kid to run a multi Million $ company. The only way possible, would be if the kid had the IQ of a genius or was just really smart… Its a great idea, but everything has to go perfectly just the way you want it. At least in a realistic sense.
But I just don’t see the producers going nuts over it… But then again, thats my opinion… so please don’t take affence to it.I just wanted to let you know my opinion. If you would like to ever talk, you have my e-mail. Infact, I had just recently thought of an OUTRAGEOUS Reality tv show idea, that Iam going to present to some producers, and I would love to hear your professional opinion, and pick your brain for a little bit, maybe work on some projects in the future.

Mark, i watched the first segment, what a great “in your face” show. todays kids seem to think that the world owes them a living, and that everything should be handed to them on a silver platter and that they don’t have to earn their way through life, i sure hope for the sake of this worlds future that they change their attitudes, you are doing the world a world of good, keep up the GREAT work

  13. My comment is about the possible acquisition of Dampier as our center. Good job, Mark !
Further more, we need a few more outside shooters. U.S Olympic team is an example of the problem. They don’t put enough points on the board. Simply, we need defense and good outside shooters, period.
I can be your scout. I’m very good at scouting good players. I was among those who recommended Ben Wallace to Detroit even a good player for a bargain.

  15. Have you ever watched the Bachelor or The Apprentice and said to yourself “Man, that guys is so lucky to be in control everyone’s fate?” well that is the impression I am getting from watching the teaser trailers and the “Sizzle” video about this show. The contestants are like rats in a maze, all controlled by Mark Cuban. Rub Mark the wrong way, and you are out of there. Nothing interests me about this show at all; it has been done a million times by every other network out there. The Surreal Life, The Apprentice, The Bachelor, all shows where the fate of the contestants are in the hands of one man. This is no different.

Right now the reality show that is peaking my interest is “The Casino”, because it is showing how a new business starts up. You can watch and learn from the mistakes of these two gentlemen as they try to run a Casino. It is truly fascinating. They are everyday guys, and the decisions they are making are no different than what any other inexperienced new business owner would have. “The Resturant” would have been good if Rocco was not so damn lazy.

I am sorry Mark, but “The Benefactor” offers nothing new and no value whatsoever. Only those that like to see others suffer and make fools out of themselves, will appreciate this show.

I think its time to think about what made you successful – a product that was unique and new. Then start from there with a television series.

Its sad to see all the people in this comment area blow fluff up your ass. If you continue to listen to them, you will just seem more failures in the Hollywood industry.

    Good luck with this show!

  30. Scott…. to me you sound like a know it all. You think that you are a big shot because your a CEO in the entertainment industry and make a lot of money. BIG DEAL! There are already ALOT of fans of this show that can’t wait until it airs. Just because Mr. big bucks CEO can’t figure out what the point of the show is does not mean that other people can’t and are not interested in watching it. Maybe you are not interested in watching a show where someone wins a million dollars. There are lot of people are motivated by money and it is very exciting to watch someone become wealthy after an exciting, eventful, fun, motivating, hilarious reality show. It’s good that you want to speak what you feel. I am the same way. There are times when you just need to keep your comments to yourself. This would be one of those times. :o)

    Have fun watching the show!

  32. 1 “re: doubting the show has a second season” well, let’s see…it’s Mark’s personal money so who says he wants a second season
2- if you are indeed in the entertainment industry, you will note that there are no original ideas. ever deal with writers and copywright issues?
3- everyone’s a critic. your comments are not constructive. they sound like “man off the street” talk. why waste your breath?
4- has it occurred to you that the vagueness in the promo is intentional? if you know entertainment, you know about anticipation and tension.
5- I suspect you have no comment on this. Sounds like you a CEO far removed from the frontline. Hope you’re getting tips on management from blogmaverick.

  38. Stop being a jack a–. Just because you are obviously miserable and a hater why are you trying to get others to be the same. Maybe you were not hugged enough as a kid. Here a hug for you! Now go try to spoil someone else’s day because it is not happening here. Most of us just love and respect the guy and it’s nothing you can do to about it.

    Comment by Salmon -

  39. Actually, that promo reminds me a little of “seven lives exposed” on Playboy TV. It has many similarites.

But, it really doesn’t matter because here it is. Everyone because of the name recognition will watch this show because the name Mark Cuban sells. His haters will watch it and bitch swearing they could do it better and the kiss ass people will watch and jerk off. Guaranteed, anyone that cares enough to check out his blog and comments everyday will tune in. Guaranteed.

    Comment by John -

  40. it looks promising. i especially like the 16:9 aspect ration. I can only assume its in high-definition which would be a first for reality TV. I’ll bet it makes it onto hdnet. There will be at least a couple seasons.

    Comment by davino -

  41. The show hasn’t even started yet, and it’s already on thin ice?

As far as its chances for a second season, it’s a reality show with relatively low production costs. Also, a quick shooting schedule can get it on the air relatively quickly, if it gets good ratings this summer.

The question is, which will come out first? The Benefactor – Season Two or Duke Nukem Forever?

    Comment by Gio Angles -

  42. Looks like a lot of action and fun!!! The last few seconds are just priceless. I could not stop laughing. This RTV show will be a winner!

    Comment by Salmon -

  43. This just in. The “Wallace Boys” are waaaaay overrated. The Pacers will win this series unless they get cheated because there’s something about a ghetto city vs. a big market ghetto city that is appealing to the world. Oh well. I do know it will go seven. Stern and the officials will guarantee that. I’m a Pacers fan and have little worry about tonight’s game.

    Comment by John -

  44. Dude hilarious, ha,
NO! Lakers won, seriously the officials probably got a call during half time by Stern to make the Lakers win. Stupid Lakers! but if they play the Pistons can you just imagin Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace blocking Kobe’s lay ups, Shaq’s lay ups…ha, great!

    Comment by Vale -

  45. Honestly, this promo didn’t show me anything that hasn’t been seen before on reality shows, like Big Brother and several others that I cannot remember the names.

I’ve yet to figure out the point of this show. The most successful shows have a clear point to them, like The Apprentice and Survivor. With this show, is the point simply to stay in favor of Mark Cuban? If so, then this show will fail, because this is too fuzzy of an objective.

I’m a Mark Cuban fan, but I call things like I see them. I’m in the entertainment industry myself (CEO/owner of a $100+ million company), but I do not see the unique selling point for this show, the dramatic defining difference that makes it stand out as a sure winner.

And that promo was horrible. Seriously. I’m not talking about the sound or editing, just the content. I hope it was just a rough cut, because it lacked impact, and it utterly failed to tell me anything special about the show. After watching it, I know nothing compelling about the show that would draw me to watching it. On the other hand, when I first say the trailer for The Apprentice, I leaned over to my wife and told her that I was certain that that show was going to be a hit. The Apprentice trailer told me clearly that business is the real jungle, and getting a high-paid exec job as an end goal is far more exciting that getting a million bucks — been there, done that with Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Survivor, and so on. Money as a prize is no longer exciting.

I could go on with the criticisms, but I don’t wants to write a whole blog… 😉

Final prediction: This show does so-so, and I doubt there’s a second season.

    Comment by Scott Miller -

  46. that is was going to be anything more than the real world meets social evaluation based on a million dollars. What will a bunch of people do or not do to make them come out a head of the pack..I am surpised that the age seemed younger and not as diverse. but the formula makes sense –

    Comment by tk421 -

  47. I had the same sound problem. I liked seeing your getting in on the fun with the house mates. The last five seconds of the promo with the kids was very funny.

There is a very cool commercial playing in the Boston Market for Jordan’s Furniture, as a play on the apprentice, rather than the Your Fired tagline, it uses the tagline Your Tired, you need a better mattress. The winner in this commercial is told that he is going to help build their newest store in Sagus Mass, where he says, I thought I was supposed to be builing a Golf Course.

    Comment by Gary -

  48. For your next show read “There are no Children Here” by Alex Kotlowitz….I think you will get a better idea for your show….that makes a bigger difference and it the concept will be more marketable.

    Comment by Sterling -

  49. Well, in looking at the preview of the contestants and Mark’s comments about them, it seems that you just want to help the biggest loser out. Let me rephrase, someone that has absolutely no chance in hell at having a 7 figure wealth. My first comment may have ben a tad bit unfair.

And by the way, for those who are so against the conspiracy theory, check out the last 60 secons of the Lakers game and tell me that they didn’t have the spread in mind.

    Comment by John -

  50. ahhh the lakers won =(

    Comment by cali -

  51. The end is hilarious. Very funny.

But it doesn’t make a good promo when 16 people say 16 unrelated things. The promo doesn’t tell us what the show is about.

  55. Will it show on HDNet? Not necessarily it’s first run, but even a couple hours later (like you did with the winter olympics). DirecTV doesn’t carry local channels in HD and my house is situated such that I can’t get OTA (stupid hills). I’ll watch it regardless, but everything looks better in HD.

  56. The show looks like it will be fun to watch…

the levels are way off which is what’s making the sound so loud. all good for now though

ditto on the volume…Yikes! Mark, maybe you could add the volume issue to your comments as a warning?
