Damn Officials !

You would think the officials in miami would be able to get something so simple right. Wouldnt you ? How difficult is it to see what is or isnt right in front you ?

It amazes me that Miami Officials are telling everyone that they made me take down a Go Mavs Go banner from my boat parked out side the American Airlines Arena.

Well guess what guys.

I dont own a boat.

Never have. Never will. I rented one once. Rowed one a couple times. Thats it.

My apologies to the real owner of that boat who is getting pestered with helicopters and people trying to corner them.

and on the topic of the game last night. No more emails about losing the 4 seconds with 48 seconds to go. THe league knows the game clock was not stopped and 4 secs ran off the clock incorrectly. So all of you Tivo users that emailedme are correct.

They are looking at it to make sure it doesnt happen again.

Dear Ms Nicole. There’s no need to bow down to me! It’s probably quite difficult for you to climb down from your throne.

Your comment- about “Stack is not important so the suspension should not be a big deal”. Shows everyone how educated that you are about the game and flow of championship basketball. The argument is about equality, which has not being dished out fairly. It doesn’t matter if Stack missed his last 15 shots in game 4. The league has purposely disrupted this game. If I was a (while holding my breath) Miami fan, I would be enraged at the decision. Do you guys really want the league to decide who wins the title?

Lo, you’re not worth my time for me to argue with about the suspension. The only thing i want to say to you is DO NOT FALSELY QUOTE ME! I never said that Stackhouse wasn’t important so don’t come on this board spewing lies. I think you guys have more to worry about then Stackhouse. Like what happened to Dirk or Howard?

Why not suspend Shaq for elbowing Dirk in the face, and for busting up Stack’s nose….Im so pissed! Looks like hes a Miami fan huh…

Why the anger there bud? Why the fans? I can understand people not liking Cuban. But come on, most of our fans are just like yours. Granted, we have some whiners and crybabies, but so do the Heat, and every other team in the league. None worse than San Antonio and LAL. Get a grip. Who cares what Mark has to say. Do you, honestly? Its funny how much energy people waste hating someone else’s team, or owner, or fans. Think of all you could have accomplished in all the time you’ve spent seething over some guy in Texas that you’ll never meet and who cares so little about you that he hasn’t responded directly to any of your posts in the time you’ve spent blogging. Seems like he’s winning this battle to me, no disrespect, but he’s not wasting his time on your blog just to tell you he hates you. He is on your mind, and that’s what Mark Cuban is about. As long as you have an opinion, one way or the other, he owns you. Sorry, just the facts. It’s not just you, it’s all the venemous Heat Fans that are coming on here to bag on him. Don’t get me wrong, that’s not a blanket statement on all Heat Fans, I’m sure the majority of them are great fans. Just like most of us are great fans who support our team. Golf is relaxing, so is model building from what I’ve heard. Hell, go build one of those ships in a bottle, do a puzzle. You’re wasting you time here. GO MAVS….MFFL

Granted, 10 years ago that play on shaq wouldn’t have even been a flagrant foul but GUESS WHAT MAVS, you have finally gotten WHAT YOU HAVE ASKED FOR! The mavs have been crying about the play in the NBA being “way too physical” for 5 years. CUBAN wants more calls, he wants the officials to crack down on flagrants, he wants them to keep the big men out of the paint, the man has a freaking blog website dedicated to CRYING about the officials for gods sake! THE MAVS HAVE PLAYED A HUGE PART in creating this new PUSSIFIED NBA and now that it has come back to bite YOU in the A$$, and what do they do? Well, they do what they do best, they CRY like they always do.

    Comment by Josh -

  14. I don’t dispute that he should not have been suspended. However, the Mavs are the deeper, more talented team. Ultimately, there is NO excuse for not winning this series in 6 or 7 games. Based on playoff performances of the past, the folks in Big D know all about 12 step programs!

  16. Mr. Trey in all due respect, the only place that I would like to see Shawn Bradley, is, at a local Home Depot working in the lamps and bulbs change-out department.

Mr. Rowlete, if you do not think that critical decision based on unfairness, has nothing to do with the swing of games, than you are lost and need to spend days in the basketball knowledge and psychic rehab center. We have a 12 step program in Dallas that we can admit you to.

    Comment by Lo -

  17. The league is not deciding who wins the title by suspending Stackhouse. The league had nothing to do with the Mavs going in the tank for the final 6:34 of game three. The league had nothing to do with the Mavs scoring 7 points in the fourth quarter Thursday night. Even if the Mavs lose game 5 Sunday night, they have two games at home. If you can’t win two games on your home court with everything on the line, you don’t deserve to be a champion.

  20. I am a Mavs fan, so I’d like to suggest that the team double on Wade, not Shaq. Let Shaq have his 15 or 20, and take yoiur chances with him on the line. The Mavs have the players to prevent Shaq from having a monstrous game in Damp and Diop. Wade is really hurting us, and he is the heart of their offense. He must be slowed and only a double team can do that.

  23. You know, it’s a sad day in NBA Basketball when I feel like I’m watching WWE wrestling…where the referee happened to miss the guy with the chair entering the ring. This suspension is perhaps the most calculated ploy by the NBA to swing the series, and add some drama while they’re at it. C’mon! Little Stack leveling Big Ol’ Shaq? Won’t happen unless both players made contact while in the air and off balance. Technical for not making a play on the ball? Okay. But a suspension? On the swing game? Egregious! The worst front office call in history. No wonder nobody competes anymore on the floor! The suits make all the calls!

The key for the Mavs success in Game 5… Avery, please stick to the Game plans for 1 and 2. Harris must come off the bench to be successful. He’s too young to set the tone. High energy is needed from Terry, and especially Howard. Dirk has got to take those bumps to the body better and don’t get intimidated! Mavs are still my pick, so make it happen! Miami can’t run with you guys! Let’s go!

I’d honestly rather still have Bradley! Freakin Van Trick is the most worthless overpaid superspare in the league. At least every now and then Bradley would get a block or redirect shot by doing nothing more than happening to wander into the wrong place at the right time.

  25. One of the Main keys to winning game 5 with Stack being out is not Dirk, it’s not Howard, and believe it or not it’s not JET. It will be Marquis Daniel.

    Dear Avery,

Please allow MD to start and stay in the game all day, don’t jerk his chain on the first nervous play that he makes. There is no younger dynamic duo in the league better than Josh and Marquis. If we can get 7 boards and +22 point from Marquis, this game will be a blow out. And for God sakes, please keep Van Horn out o f the game. It’s like watching the reincarnation of Shawn Bradley.

    Mavs win and Win big.

  27. My last post on this.
I have not had a major problem with the officiating during the game. I think both teams had a bit of a home court advantage. Those refs are the one’s that will suffer over this, going forward everything they do will be strutinized and argued by one side or the other. By suspending Stack(right or wrong), the league has destroyed what has been one of the best playoff years ever. No matter the outcome few will be able to watch objectively the remaining games. The focus will be on the officiating and the fairness. These wonderful playoffs by all teams ends in a cloud of smoke, disagreement, and controversy. Who will be able to hold their head up proud at the end?? What a way to end the year. I say, damage done, lets put it behind us and try our best to watch the game, not the refs.
p.s., sorry about the double post, site said post not sent, retry. I did and it doubled up.

  28. Paul,

Are you kidding? You have to be, holy crap pinch yourself your having some freakin delusions. Avery can’t coach? Well dipshit, he has matched your “genius” backstabbing coach by taking a team to the Finals in his first full season. He has the highest winning percentage of any coach in NBA history through his first 100 games. And by the way, you didn’t see your owner anywhere because he was up in the luxury boxes with the other stick up their ass rich people, not experiencing the game as it should be, with the other rowdies in the crowd. It’s douchebags like you that give sports fans a bad name. I can tell you that your Heat had a good year. They deserve to be here. But your ignorant ass has to come on here and bitch about everything your envious of. BTW, that “gawky” 7 footer finished 3rd in the MVP ballots for the 2nd year in a row. Of course, you’re more in tune with the game than the people who travel the country watching every game. The heat have done a good job defending Dirk so far, don’t fool yourself into thinking he won’t drop 40 on them. Did you know he didn’t have a game with less than 20 from the All Star break until game 4 in PHX? And as far as Mark Cuban, I don’t agree with all the shit he says or does, and I wish he wouldn’t use the media to handle the bitching about the refs, but I wouldn’t want any other owner here in Dallas. Face it, the officials are incompetent. No more for one team than another, but they do suck, and they need to be held accountable. Go blog on Mickey Mouse’s website, oh yeah, he doesn’t interact with his fans.

Lastly, as I’ve said on here 100 times, I wish everyone would stop crying about the freakin refs. WE ALL KNOW THEY SUCK. Both teams get shitty fouls. It’s part of it.

Lets face it, stack lost his cool. Wether the suspension is legit or not, he should not have put himself in that position. I admit though, I think Shaq’s sheer size and how hard he hit the floor as a result of his sheer size may have inflenced Mr. Jackson’s decsion.

  32. More on consistency.
I think that if you do something that warrants ejection or suspension, then you
should be suspended, yes, even if it is game 7 of the finals, however it should
    be consistent.
When Haslem went for a hard, intentional foul it backfired and he hurt himself.
That foul was everything that Stack’s was. Hard, vicious, intentional, to stop
the easy dunk. If Miami is going to be allowed to play hard and bash people all
game long, then allow hard play all around. Dallas makes one agressive move and
it’s a suspension? Lets be honest, not fans with blinders on. If this were fair
and consistent calling from the NBA then Shaq and Haslem both would be suspended
a game. All I want is both teams be allowed to play the same style of ball. Shaq
is in the paint 5+ seconds on defense at least ten times a game(both teams have
done it, but not to that degree). And on the time clock, am I the only one that
noticed earlier when Dallas was rolling that there was trouble starting the
clock? Go watch the tapes before you bash me on this. The clocks wouldn’t start
when Miami needed time, and wouldn’t stop when Dallas needed time. How opportune
are those wonderful electronic failures. Either way, I still believe in the
Mavs, plus should Miami win it all there would always be the cloud over their
head about not being able to win it on their own. Like it or not, that doubt
    remains.

  35. Mr. Cuban: I am 11 years old and play in the YMCA league for 5th and 6th graders. We have harder fouls made on us and not called by the refs… We’re taught to drive to the basket to get and1s. We are also taught to make the extra pass. My dad has also taught me that there are penalties we must pay for our mistakes, but I have never been punished twice for the same mistake. One mistake…one penalty. Have a great Father’s Day.

  36. Paul, Paul, Pual…So, everything for the Mav’s up to this point is just some crazy fluke, isn’t it? You are talking about a team that finished off the Suns (who would run you guys to the ground) IN PHOENIX, and the Spurs (who you guys couldn’t hold a candle to) IN SAN ANTONIO. You are hype over two wins that you should have expected to win….at home, Bud. I am not sure if an albatross underneath the basket who is about 3 for 3,062 from the foul line in his career and a phenomenal player that would let the media know if his athlete’s foot was irritated are going to be able to pull this off in Dallas, my man. Watch out when our gawky 7-footer get’s it started, and you are right, Avery can’t coach at this level. They give “Coach of the Year” awards to guys who are unsuccessful. By the way, did I mention that it’s his first full year and we are in the Finals? He can’t coach. You are right.

  37. To Mr. Josh. Your (disputed) comment about Wade doesn’t whine? Give me a break. I have never, ever heard of a person that contracts the Flu, and it takes him 2 months to snap it. What do you call that? In street basketball its called playing possum to get the other team focus off of you. And if you somehow have a terrible game you already have an excuse.
In game 4, Dirk clearly twisted his ankle, when ask about the injury he said he was fine. And while on the subject of Whiners; what happen to “I need the stage and a win” to feel important –Shaq daddy after game 2? He was too embarrassed to show up for the news conference, “great sportsmanship” huh. Your team is a joke!

And now to Mr. Paul. What are you smoking? Must be some of that left over Miami Vice swamp pot. Unlike you people in Miami, we are not whiners, fans in Dallas are sports educated. We also have the scruples to recognize the leagued personal vendettas against our beloved and brilliant owner Mr. Cuban.

Just because your Miami fans choose to wear those pathetic white Prison outfits at the game, doesn’t all of a sudden make you guys smarter than the game. You are off base with all of your comments. This is (coach of the year) Avery J, first time making a comment about the officiating. The game in which you referred to in regards to 3pt foul shots, clearly showed a team (Miami) that was out-matched, out-coached and out-played. The only good thing that will come out of Stacks suspension is ultimately it plays into our hand. The referees will, or may I say should be, more in-tune to the Thug basketball that Miami plays. And hopefully so will the world. And finally once everyone sees the game through the “Eyes” of educated Mavs fans and call it accordingly, game 5 should be in the bag for the Mav’s. Thus setting up a climatic game 6, having an angry (on a mission) Stackhouse back, at home for game 6 should be the final icing on the cake. Can you say Shaq daddy “its time to go fishing” and don’t forget to pickup your sidekick Whining Wade.

  40. Talent? who do you have in Miami beside the awesome Wade? Nobody, Shaq has size and brute strength, not talent. I didn’t think Shaq busting the nose worthy of ejection, but the same game he intentionally elbowed Dirk hard in the jaw and should have been ejected(no foul), same game he backhanded a Mav. (don’t remember who) into the stands, intentionally but only drew a loose ball foul. Stacks foul was intentional, but given how hard the players have been allowed to play up to that play, definitely not a flagrant 2.
I wonder who would win in an even match up between Miami and Dallas if the calls went the same at both courts and the League and others kept their nose out of it. We will not find out this year though huh?

I didn’t see Micky Aronson complaining every time the Heat got a bad call in Dallas (your mediocre team got 90% of the calls there). I mean, calling a foul on a 3 point shot when the shooter was hardly touched? We didn’t complain about that. Stack gave Shaq a hard foul – he didn’t make a play on the ball. Simple as that. Heat players were suspended for less in their first playoff series this year. Get over it. You guys are unraveling under the pressure. Face it – your team is overrated – Avery is a rookie coach who lacks the ability to coach at this level – your team has no stars – a gawky 7’0″ German who can shoot is not enough to win titles. And you don’t have the ability to develop a championship team. Why don’t you spend some time recruiting talent instead of wasting time blogging? You and your team are done. The championship is going to Miami where it belongs. Stop whining about the officiating. You had a good run, but you’re not playing the banged-up Spurs or the no-defense Suns anymore.

  48. NBAE wants this thing to go 7 games, for revenue purposes. What better way to get the stuff to go 7 than to suspend a Mav player to give Miami every advantage in game 5 as they can.

After all, if Miami loses game 5, there’s a good chance they will also lose game 6. But, if Miami wins game 5, they’ll probably not try as hard in game 6 knowing they have a ‘game in hand’ which would mean an easy Mav game 6 win, and on to game 7.

NBAE did the same thing by suspending JT in the SA series. They got an extra game (possibly) out of the deal.

The NBAE is about making money…if they can suspend Stack, that might be the difference between winning and losing game 5…which means they probably get a game 7, which is worth lots of dirty green paper with dead presidents on it.

This league is a joke. How can you suspend a player and alter the outcome of an entire championship?

The reason you can’t suspend Stack is this: There’s a chance that this suspension could cost the Mavs the NBAE title. Just imagine this scenario. Mark is just about to accept the trophy from Stern and at the last second stern says, “mark, i’m sorry, i’m going to give YOUR Championship trophy to the Heat because of a hard foul. Sorry about that buddy, get em next year”

Why not suspend Stackhouse for 10 games at the beginning of the NEXT regular season? Why not fine him 50k? Do something other than not letting him play. Thats an absurd punishment considering the magnitude of the game. This is NOT a regular season game. This game has the magnitude of at least 50 reg season games next season. If you gave Cuban the option of suspending stackhouse for 1 game tomorrow, or 50 games next season, i’d have to believe he’d take the 50 next year.

This suspension is EQUIVALENT TO 50 REGULAR SEASON GAMES. FIFTY.

This is the NBAE title. This is a once in a lifetime moment. You never know when you are going to get back here again. You may never get back as long as you are a player, owner or coach. You have to treat these moments as once in a lifetime. If it happens in the future, its gravy but you have to act like this is the end of the world.

Suspending a player at this point in the season with the series tied 2-2 is deplorable, i don’t care what the guy did…there are other punishments that you can give out, money, games next year, put the guy in jail for a week…anything but this.

    A travesty.

  49. the league was right to suspend stackhouse for that foul. fast break fouls are occasionally way out of control. let us not forget joe johnson’s poor eye socket.

  50. this was a cheap shot, nobody can argue that…whenever shaq commits a foul it is when people are running at him and he’s protecting the basket…when he hit and busted stack’s already busted face, stack knew what was coming, he knew a hard foul was coming and shaq at least went for the ball…stackhouse blindsided shaq, it was busch league, a cowardly play…in the past this wouldn’t have been a suspension but this year when you look at posey’s suspension, haslem’s suspension, artest’s suspension the league is quick to suspend players, why would they change now…i wish the mavs would show some class, is been a great series, and until the mavs started losing everyone has been happy…now that the mavs are losing, here come the excuses…i guess its par for the course in texas, things aren’t going your way find somebody to blame…game 5 should be great game, lets try to enjoy it with some class mavs

  51. Mark. this is ludicrous that the NBA suspended Stack for game 5. Honestly, I’m done with the NBA. I know you own a team and all, but this is the last straw….lousy commisioner and staff….lousy refs with no consistency. I think the WWF is more real than the NBA right now.

  52. I am fan of NBA games from Beijing, and understandably, I’m fan the the Rockets. Now I am rooting the Heats to win this series not because of all those emotional arguments made so far. It is because that it seemed to me the Heats have found their way to bring the game back into their way, and the Mavs could not react it. Even worse, now they are trying to getting more physical instead of their running game specialty. They lost their rhythm in which they had displayed such basketball intelligence.

BTW, if there is a an emotional reason for me rooting in the Heats, it has to be that I would love the Heats to take the series to show the world that the beauty of the game is from the heart, the desire, the skill, the intelligence, and the ability from the players, not from one big ego from Texas.

Yes, Mr.Cuban did a good job. But he has to do better.

  55. I’m curious why those who think Stackhouse should have been suspended for game 5 are ignoring the extra-curricular hit that Mourning threw at Dirk during last night’s game. Specifically, he threw an extra hit on his head following his hard foul under the basket. No flagrant foul, no technical foul for a much dirtier hit than Stack’s. Stern is a joke. This decision has only served to remind me why I don’t (along with half of America) bother watching the NBA.

  56. Vivek
Posey sideswiped Heinrich out of nowhere and Raja straight up threw Kobe to the ground (which I can’t see enough). If you bother to watch the video of all three you would see the distinct difference. Stack made a hard foul on a fast break. Whatever happend to no easy lay ups? Yes, it was a hard file and he did deserve the flagrant one that he received and that’s it. Know something about basketball before you spout off.

I personally did not want the suspension; i like physical games. so consider it a blessing in disquise. the refs are going to get more ticky-tacky then ever. And that is what the Mav’s want…right? You guys don’t want to get physical with us…do you?

    Comment by Josh -

  60. I’m not homering at all. Like I said, regardless of the team you’re rooting for, Mavs, Spurs, whoever…the refs made some crappy calls on each team in each game. And I know quite a bit thank you very much 🙂

  63. I am sick and tired of Stern! So what is this rule exactly that warranted a suspension? Or is there a rule at all, do the higher ups in this league think the whole world doesnt notice this is a blatent attack at the organization. If I had a million dollars I would bet it all that if it was Armstrong or one of the other players that are not as crucial to what the team is trying to accomplish as Jerry is, they would have not been suspended. He just happens to be one of the most, if not the most consistent player we have right now. What an oppourtunity this presented for the league! My only thing is this isnt like the “Punch” that Jason threw, this was just a hard foul that all of the refs saw. The refs didnt find the foul hard enough to eject him then so why is he being suspended now! So basically Mr Stern your saying the refs cant do their job? Hmmmm I think I know owners who get fined for saying that. So now you agree and you just proved it. Im not saying the refs are horrible but when “Dicks” crew is on the court I think it takes The mavs out of the flow of the game that they like to play because the game has to be stopped every ten seconds. Dont suspend Jerry based on an opinion base it on a rule. Im sure there is one somewhere but this just sucks!! Now ShaQuillia is sitting back calling it a love tap that wasnt nothing! Ok, wasnt nothing you sure did try to get fast at the time. The heat need to send a fruit basket to the League “stern” saying thank you.

The refs have NOT been calling the games consistently. Regardless of the team, they made some lousy calls. And did you even see last night’s game?? Shaq was hardly “just standing there”. haha…i been waiting all day for that blog…I guess he was just too busy trying to find his players a new hotel, far far away, seems he has thrown in his white flag…haha

Hey Trey, you just dont know who I really am, nor who I really know. Maybe you should stop by Opium and ask the bouncers for me, Ill share a few drinks with you…but dont expect me to agree with you that the Mavs will win the series, or rather, another game, Heat in 6..Stephen A Smith agrees!

Comment by oscar e cordova jr -

  66. It’s a part of the game – NO EASY SHOTS!!! Stack’s foul was what was needed. If I blindfolded my dog, she could have a higher free throw percentage than Shaq – so you foul him instead of giving him a dunk!!! It was called a flagrant and that’s all it was. No suspension was warranted. GO MAVS!!!! Beat those pansy, Stern lovin HEAT!!!

    Comment by Vette0067 -

  67. I cannot they suspended Stackhouse. This is totally uncalled for and such a disgrace to the league, team fans, everyone…The refs did not see this as even a flagrant 2, and Shaq has nailed several of our players in the face, including Stackhouse.

Why punish a whole team, city, and all of the fans for one man’s controversial mistake. He was only trying to motivate his team and play hard, that’s it. If they think it is worth a penalty, why not fine him instead of punishing everyone, including NBA fans? This is a total disgrace, and the NBA is only hurting their own product.

How a team can have three conversial suspensions in the playoffs is beyond me. There was a guy on the Nuggets grabbing Kamin’s undershorts, and he wasn’t even suspended. These suspensions are being tossed out like candy, and it is really rediculuous, to say the least. Something needs to be done about this nonsense, and they virtually tie everyone’s hands…maybe congress needs to get involved…MLB has a steroid problem and the NBA has a suspension problem…LOL!

P.S. You can send comments to the NBA also:

  68. as a long-time heat fan, I was very impressed with the way they played last night. not in game 3, though. that was just pure luck that dirk froze and froze. but, hey, that happens sometimes. best thing to do is swallow it and move on. I watched games 1 and 2 with a heavy heart, but still being very proud of the heat for making it that far. now the series is tied, it’s a whole new ballgame and my feeling is that it’s going to be a battle, especially after Sunday. the Mavericks, without Stackhouse, may lose. on the other hand, it may just be the fire they need to get over the beating they got. that was UGLY. Mark Cuban, get over it. blaming the officials always seem a little desperate.

    Comment by juny -

  69. Nicole – how many games have you seen this year ? There is no consistency in calls from game to game. The Pistons hit Wade harder than Stackhouse hit Shaq and it wasnt even a flagrant foul. Its pretty bad when the league overrules the referees in the game.

    Comment by Deann -

  72. Oh, and as for the suspension of Jerry Stackhouse, that was complete and utter bullshit because Stackhouse was just keeping Shaq from making a dunk and doing his part to give him a hard foul. They gave him a flagrant 1 in the game which doesn’t warrant a suspension or toss out of the game but no, they wanted to review the play and see what they wanted to see and keep Stackhouse out of a very important game 5. If it wasn’t for D-Wade Shaq would have gotten up and confronted Stackhouse and been thrown out of the game for his second technical. The Heat were just handed a break for game 5 and that’s just a travesty.

    Comment by Kenny -

  73. Shak said his kids hit him harder that Stack did. Why the suspension then?! Loosers.

    Comment by kgantz -

  74. I thought Avery had alot of class and didn’t complain too much but now i change my mind after hearing him cry and whine on the radio. They’ve been calling the playoffs consistently from the start. As for Shaq busting Stack’s nose, Shaq was basically just standing there when Stack drove into him. There’s no way that was flagrant and you guys are just delusional if you think otherwise. Quit whining and just play better. Period.

    Comment by Nicole -

  75. This is ridiculous, one big game from the Heat and now we’ve got their fans all over this blog ranting and raving, thinking they are gonna win four straight. The Heat may benefit from a lame finals format of 2-3-2 but the Mavs will steal game 5 and win at home. Look for Dirk to have more attitude and killer instinct on Sunday. Never again in this series will the Mavs shoot under 40% and Dirk and Josh Howard make only 3 field goals combined.

    Comment by Kenny -

  76. Mark, I understand you are passionate about your team, but taking it to Letterman was ill advised. You can bet the heat will play that over and over and use it. And as for Avery, I respect who he is and where her comes from. I watched him play for the rockets. I am a long time rockets fan and like a team with a strong center like Miami. Mavs are still too soft for my taste. Mark, just simmer down a bit and go get a center. Dampeir is weak and Diop is to inexperinced. Quit complaning this is playoff basketball not regular season ticky-tack.

  78. The Stackhouse suspension is a crime.

I am trying my best to see things impartially, but I cannot find any justification to this recent penalty by the NBA. Why cannot the games be decided on the court? There is enough drama already.

I hope this inflames our players with the anger that is justifiably their right, and enables them to rise to the occasion and win.

    Comment by elizabeth weimer -

  79. Mark,

What are your thoughts on Stack being suspended for Game 5? I’ve heard Avery’s on ESPN radio today, can I assume you’ll have the same reactin? It’s a joke! If the foul was the other way around there is no chance they sit Shaq.

    Comment by Dave -

  80. Trey Allmon….and where is this flop you are talking about? Did not see one.

    Stackhouse suspended for game 5.

Stackhouse is one of the players i do not necessarily hate. As a Heat fan I do hink that the suspension was a little harsh, even though he clearly creamed into him like Ray Lewis. I would have preferred an ejection last night because, Mav’s, I want your best players in the game. I do not want to hear something new to complain about when you lose

    Comment by Josh -

  81. That was a good ole fashioned ass whoopin last night (Game 4) that was greatly assisted by the parade of “No Show” performers in Mavs Uni’s. I thought the Hasselhoff pics might inspire Dirk but that poor guy played horrrrrrible and got punk’d repeatedly. The Mavs are the better Team but last night was a laugher and a terrible performance. Do Kobe a favor and play to your strengths and ability or Shaq is gonna get his first Kobeless Championship!!

    Comment by CarmichaelKeith -

  82. Mark, you really need to stop whining and crying about the officials. Your team got beat fair and square and officials make bad calls on both sides. There is not some conspiracy with the officials and Stern to keep the Mavs from winning the championship. Get a grip. You act like the Mavs never committ fouls and get away with them. You better hope Stack doesn’t get suspended. You really need to get some class and take after your Coach Avery a little more.

    Comment by Nicole -

  83. And by the way, as for floppping, what about Shaq’s large flops when little bitty Devin Harris runs into him? It’s part of the game, trying to draw fouls. They all do it, Jordan did it, Shaq does it, the Mavericks do it, and coaches encourage it.

    Comment by Trey Allmon -

  84. Julianna,

I agree, the whining should stop. The refs suck, all the time, both ways. However, EVERY team in the league sends video to the league offices for review. Common practice. Cuban started it, with Shaq’s free throws in his LA days when he stepped over the line before releasing the ball every time. Now all teams do it, Heat included.

    Comment by Trey Allmon -

  85. Well, I am a converted Mavs fan, if not just for Cuban’s great wonderfulness! You are a down to earth man, which makes me smiley! Yes, I am a Pistons fan, always will be since I went to University of Kentucky while Prince played there. I am a huge Prince fan (get him mark! get him now!). Anyway, gotta love the mavs now! Send those tickets over here Cuban! I need to go to my first NBA game at a Mavs final!

    Comment by formerroadie -

Brickhouse just wanted to get Shaq mad and thrown out of the game. He’s a little weasel. But Shaq was too cool to fall for that old trick. He kept his cool and sank both free throws. I thought this was going to be a clean series, but I guess not with morons like Craphouse on the court. At least one of the teams (Miami) have class!!!!

    Comment by DavidP -

  92. Hey RPS! You and your Mavs are the losers. And that includes your attention-seeking owner Cuban. The Miami fans and owner have class. Cuban goes on David Letterman show to mouth off. He appears on TV more than Paris Hilton. Next he’ll be walking around with a little dog. I notice he hasn’t updated his blog lately. Not much to say when your players are playing like crap. I prefer a humble type person like Dwayne Wade over an attention-seeking person like Cuban. Face it, RPS or whatever your name is (afraid to write your name or you haven’t learned to spell it yet), the Heat will win this series and be the 2006 NBA World Champions!!! Believe it!!!!

Fair weathered? Oh yeah. Maybe you all should put your pennies together and buy your “star” Center the book “Free Throws for Dummies”. I think you all are having a HeatStroke…call the paramedics someone please. MFFL!!!

  94. Avery Johnson has said this was a 7-game series from the get go. Every Dallas sportswriter, fans and even some of your MAVS concluded the series was over after going up 2 games to zero. Guess what? The series is tied 2-2, with another game in Miami.
The Heat wins Sunday, the pressure is on your team. Pressure bust pipes and your players don’t seem to handle it well either. Dirk whines when he can’t get his way, Stackhouse resorts to WWF tactics and Josh Howard has simply disappeared. Terry is the only player on your team who is consistent and I have much respect for his game.
Do us HEAT fans a favor and go on Leno, Oprah or whereever you feel you need to go and predict another premature DALLAS championship.

  99. Again, as I have said before, I am not a Mav hater by any means, if you go back and read the blog entry “Questions” he talks about the real kind of questions the media should ask Shaq, which has nothing to do with basketball, and clearly is making fun of Shaq AND his kids. “Do people mistake them for older kids? WIll you admit in public that you whistle the Barney “I love you” song during a game?” Come on. Want to say something about someone singing songs while they play, lets not go there with Dirk! And like YOU said, the fans should stop bitching about the refs, my comment about them getting bad calls was my way of saying that SOME whinning was correct, not all of it. I was agreeing with you.
Also, I see noone has said anything about my comment on the reaction of AJ when your lovely owner has such nice things to say about San Antonio… oh, but you can’t, proof is in the interview!….. “When I got the chance to return volley the other night during an ESPN radio interview, I certainly and happily did. The Riverwalk river is nasty. I know it. Everyone who lives in San Antonio knows it. I said it. I just know that on crowded nights, everyone who walks that thing is afraid to death that some drunk is going to stumble by and knock them into the water. Its that nasty.”
And from someone who knows, if you ever go to San Antonio, the river is NOT muddy, take a guided boat ride, you can dip a clear glass in the “muddy, nasty” water, and it comes up crystal clear!

  103. Andrea, you know, I hate it when people bitch about fouls. So know I’m not bitching, just responding to your argument to Ron with a factual question. Did you watch game 5 of the Spurs Mavs series? Did you watch the last play? The one where Tony Parker had a fistful of Dirks jersey on the last shot to win the game and series. Same play, Duncan pushes Howard to the ground. Two blatant fouls, one play, series deciding. Did you happen to see both Parker and Duncan sheepishly look at Bavetta or Crawford after the play was over? So in you’re logic, did the Spurs owner “buy” those no calls? Quit bitching about fouls, which is what you’re on here deriding Mavs fans for, and go watch the World Cup or something. It’s pathetic. Are you related to Mike Holmgren?

    Playtime is now officially OVER!!!!

The Heat have Wade and Shaq that can take over a game. The MAVS have at least 5 that can do it on any given night (Dirk, Stack, Jet, Josh and even little Devon). The gift the HEAT got in Game 3 will not happen in Game 4. Did you see Dirk”s face. He was embarassed!! He was HOT! All will rally around this!!!

MAVS by double digits in Game 5 for sure!!!

  107. Officials or not……Wade went nuts and snatched a pivotal game 3 from Dallas. It all boils down to who wants it more. Dallas became too over-confident down the stretch, plain and simple. Wade turned on the HEAT and scorched Dallas. What else can be said about game 3? Dallas has to keep playing ball as if they are down 3-2. Who is the better team? Dallas clearly has the advantage, but they have to play hard for the FULL 48 minutes…..down to the last second! And another thing, Wade’s knee problems are clearly going to be a factor in tonight’s game..this is an yet another opportunity for the Mavs to take advantage of. Can’t wait to see how it pans out!

    Go MAVS!

  110. The really bad call or no call was on the steal Haslem got. He hammered Dirk to get the ball then J.T. make a great defensive play and they call a bogus foul. But I’m not surprised David Stern would rather have each finger nail pulled out with pliers than see a sweep in the finals. More games more $$$!!! As a Mavs fan you can’t wait to see that win total roll to four now. But, when that happens it’s over. No more Mavs games for few months. Plus living in SA means all the Fox Sport Southwest coverage goes to the Spurs so I dont get to see nearly enough Mavs games. But watching this run to the finals has been absolutley AMAZING!!!

    GO MAVS!!!

  111. I think there are a few things that the Heat fans need to realize.

    1) There was nothing dominating or convincing about the Heat’s win on Tuesday. That alone does not make this a series. They narrowly escaped with a win on that game, and that’s not because of Wade, but rather the complacency of the Mavs and poor officiating.

    2) A six minute offensive run is one thing, but holding out for another 3 games against a team like Dallas is a whole other ball game.

    3) Wade is hurt and Shaq is old. Again, do you really think those two can hold off the Mavs by theselves for 3 more games? Not a chance. Especially when the Heat have no support from the bench.

    4) Dallas is as tough as nails. You would have to be in order to close out the series on the road against two far more superior teams than Miami. As far as I’m concerned, those are the three best teams in the NBA hands down. (DAL,PHX,SA) Miami, with a little help from the officials, threw everything they had at the Mavs and still only won by a bucket. Domination? Convincing? Hardly.

Heat Fans: I too am a Shaq fan, especially in his old glory days. I also enjoy watching Wade play and since there is only one Jordan, Wade is just that..Wade…but really…how can you soar with the eagles when you’re walking around with a bunch of turkeys?

Mavs go up 3 to 1 tonight…means to an end my friends, means to an end…and the buck will stop on Commerce in downtown Big D.

  112. Officials were a little shaky but, when blow a 13-point lead in the 4th quarter, you have no one to blame but yourself.

    Comment by Ron Jumper -

  113. Dwayne Wade fouled out…He clearly fouled Jason Terry mid court either way there is no excuse to have gone big against Miami the team needed to be small…coach Johnson there is no excuse to be up by over 10 points and lose, we are in the N.B.A. finals use your timeouts to prevent runs from Miami no sense to use them at the end when you are down. Nowitzki needs to take over and the team needs to know that DN is the go to guy. The Mav’s need to finish Miami’s comeback thoughts in this case once Miami is down by 10,12 or 13 points the Mav’s need to seek more….in essence kick them while they are down….Miami cannot play better than they did last night. Guys enough of offensive fouls, lazy passes, and the sweep cannot happen anymore time to move on. The first three qtr’s count but it’s the 4th quarter that separates winners from losers….It’s time to close out the Heat.

  115. Mark, the whole 4 second runoff thing isn’t what pissed me off. What pissed me off was the fact that Wade fouled out when he collided with The Jet just as he was bringing the ball across mid-court.

I’m sick and tired of the officiating in the NBA and the level of inconsistincies. I’m fed up of the whole home court advtange BS, and by that I mean when the refs stop calling fouls against the home team in the last 2 minutes of a close game, yet they’re more than willing to blow the whistle on some BS ticky-tack foul. My best friend plays in the league and towards the end of the season he was telling me he got a survey from the NBA offices to rate the level of officiating and he said he just gave it to his coach to fill out since his coach hates the refs to no end.

Anyways, i wish your team the best of luck tonight and really hope you guys win it all. I find great pleasure in seeing Shaq mope around like a big sasquatch after a loss.

  118. Mark (and others) – I know the boat deal was on the last blog, but wanted to share an email I just sent to the Miami Herald author of the article and make sure it was seen here:

Ms. Marr: I am inquiring as to the validity of a portion of your 6/14/06 article in the Herald, which discusses the celebrities at Game 3.

I do not know who make the assumption that Mark Cuban owns Utopia II, as this is inaccurate. Furthermore, the harassment by the others in the water – as well as the helicopters, etc. – is totally unacceptable. If one chooses to support a team, that is THEIR choice, and not cause for the attention of the City Government. Is it so hard to believe that a Mavericks fan might want to support their team while at the NBA Finals in Miami?

A retraction – and an apology from Brad Morris – is necessary to restore credibility to anyone involved in this situation. The article – instead of covering celebrities – aims to stir up trouble where there should be none. This is a rivalry between two outstanding teams that have worked hard to get where they are – please let them play their game, and stay out of the politics.

I’ll post a reply if she has the *&^%$ to reply.

  119. Mark, I cannot believe you and your fans are complaining about the 4 seconds running off the clock. Its called home court advantage. Every team in every home arena almost every close game does that type of thing to either shorten the game or make it longer to help their tema win. I surely hope that you Mavs fans are not soo ignorant to not know that this is part of the game. It happens everywhere, yes even in Dallas, you should know Mark.

  120. are they reviewing how the officials screwed Jason Terry out of another 2 points by calling Van Horn on touching the ball…”watch the defense and maybe you would see the blatant goal tending.” But that wouldn’t be good tv. Have you noticed how on all reality tv they stick someone in there no one likes who you know is gonna stir up some controversy just because they like drama. I think that is what the NBA is doing with this BS officiating. And no…I dont think the bad calls even out over time for every team because Dallas never catches a break that would change the entire out come of the game. Ohh so he made 2 in a row last night GREAT JOB. But Wade scored 42!! Is there something wrong with the picture of Shaq carrying his team to the finals. Oh I just figured it out. He litterally carried them to Dallas!!
And about the refs, I am a die hard Pistons fan always will be. If there is bad reffing in the NBA most of it is against Detroit. Truely I was hoping for a Pistons/Mavs series but Miami kicked our butts. We gave up so to speak! I won’t go there this isn’t the place for it!! Everyone has issues with refs no matter what you are playing. Mark, I think your Mavs are a great true all around TEAM. Not a single player team like many out there(not mentioning names). Great Job. Wish I could watch the game tonight, but I have to go to class!!Good Luck!

Dallas has been the better team all season, they proved it in games 1, 2, and 3. Miami just got some help from the refs at the AAA as we all expected.

Dallas will win tonight (blowout) and will close out on Miami’s home court on Sunday. As much as I would love to celebrate in Dallas, we can’t give the Heat another game.

Hey Mark, aren’t you glad you didn’t make a move for Shaq? Could you imagine owing a guy $80 million when he scores 5 points in a finals game. That’s one of those Isaiah Thomas deals… hahahaha!

  128. I believe that the heat had some bad calls against them in game 3 not the mavs. Anyways in sports you never let the refs dictate the outcome. Dallas was up 13 with 6 minutes left, There should be NO EXCUSES! And to u mavs fans that say that your team took the heats best punch and lost only by two, consider this. The mavs probably got their best game of the series by dirk and josh, terry and harris played their usual strong game and erika dampier picked up 14 “garbage” points (by this I mean the ball landed in his lap and he had an easy dunk) and the mavs still lost. The heat on the other hand were a one man team. Be careful not to wake up a sleeping giant (Shaq). You may mot like what you get.He is due for a huge game. If the heat can pull out game 4 I am sure MC will be crying about the officiating again.

  129. Its funny how when a team plays excellent basketball and pulls out a win the credit always goes to the refs…there were blown calls equally on both sides…on both teams…so dont use that as an excuse. Remember, the Heat was the only team to ever score 17 points in a 60 second span in Detroit and almost pull out of a 27 point deficit to win the game…So Miami wins tonite, who are you going to blame? Stephen A Smith for picking the Heat in 6 and sticking to it? Or again the refs? Mavericks fans have no CLASS, and NO RESPECT, just like your cocky no good owner Mark Cuban…I just cant wait to read the comments after tonights game, and after the Heat win on Sunday again….Even if we dont win it in game 7, I just want to see all your stupid horrid comments.

I read your previous entry though and what you said made me realize that you said it simply to spark some fun which really changed the way i thought of you. I also used to think that you complained too much then i thought about it and i realize that me and you are a lot alike and i also agree that the officiating is wretched. While you tend to notice the mistakes on the refs part with the mavs i also see the mistakes made by refs with the Spurs and other teams that i watch, including this year’s finals.
Basically what im trying to say is i truly respect you at this point and its great what you did with the mavs organization. E-Mail me back if you get time.
    P.S
Do you think you could try and get the fans to stop booing Michael Finley next year? i mean the guy did a hell of a job for your team for 8 years and i dont think its fair for him considering he was cut.

D Wade is a sissy model boy…And jealousy? Why would I want an ingenuine owner who uses his money and influence to over-power the game? I would not want to see that ugly mug every time I wanted to enjoy a real basketball game, thanks. Dirk is a Hasselhoff loving flopper, Dampier “Best in the West but gets spanked by Yao” isn’t worth much, Cuban is like the obnoxious rich kid that you end up feeling sorry for. With that said, overall Dallas is a very good team. Point. Period. Blank.

  137. I see a lot of comments on here about Dan Crawford, but the guy who made by far the most bad calls in this game was Jack Nies. Crawford made a couple, but Nies made over 10 clearly bad calls, and more of them went against the Heat.

It seems like the Maverick fans can’t tolerate an evenly (if incompetently) officiated game. Games 1 and 2 certainly weren’t officiated evenly, but my count for game 3 has 10 bad calls going against the Mavs, and 9 against the Heat. That certainly isn’t enough to claim it decided the game.

Just wait, you’ll get your favorite sons Bavetta and Salvatore again before the end…

  139. One thing I haven’t seen anyone (well almost – I haven’t read every single response) write about was the look on the Miami Heat players when Dallas came back and put a 13-pt lead up in the 4th quarter. The Miami bench looked like a bunch of whipped guys with no answer.

That should say allot about just what the Heat think they can still do in this series.

They looked frustrated and about to be put away. Luckily they got everything they needed to squeak out a win.

    Comment by Terry -

  140. This board is hot! I’m noticing a lot of Miami fans posting. It’s all good.

Game 3 is done and over with. Let’s move on. Very sure that the whaahs and boo-hoos would be coming from Heat fans if the game ended differently. And 4 sec is a long time. Just don’t make excuses for Wade for his hobbled knee. Blame Shaqira! He was the one flopping all over the place and ended up rolling on Wade. Not to mention a couple of push on the back of Dampier that were no calls. Shaq sure did his job. Hats off to Wade. Now let’s get on. Game 4 baby!

    Comment by Texaspeklat -

  141. and BTW Andrea…

I am not sure why you point out to me that the Mavs got bad calls. If you read my posts on here since game 3 I have repeatedly asked our fans to stop whining about the officiating. I, like you, understand that yes, the refs suck, but they suck both ways. Chalk it up to the fact that they have one angle and we have 10 on replays. Easy for us to see things they may not have.

    Comment by trey allmon -

  142. Andrea…

If you’ve followed the dialogue between Shaq and Cuban even remotely over the last, oh, 6 or 7 years you’d understand that those aren’t stabs. How can someone’s kids liking the wiggles be turned into a stab? Did Shaq feel like it was a stab? He said it was funny. In fact, he said he considers Mark Cuban “a friend”, and enjoys the banter. As for the charity part, Mark has been fined 1.5 million dollars over the past 2-1/2 years, of which, he matched dollar for dollar to various charities. Who has he disrespected?

    Comment by trey allmon -

  143. Oh and P.S. Just makes me smile and very warm inside to know that someone WHO DOES KNOW MARK, doesn’t stand by him either, and he is AJ’s BOSS!!! hahaha

    Comment by Ryan Watkins -

  145. Trey, Does he have a problem that Shaq is a good father? Why does he keep taking stabs at him for knowing which cartoon his kids like the most?!?!? I wish some of you fans of the Mavs would take the basketball out of it and look at the person. 1400 ticket??? Good for him, instead, why doesn’t he SELL those tickets, donate the money to a basketball camp for kids who are less fortunate??? He wants to be made out to be the nice guy, give me a break! And, BTW, I think the Mavs DID get some bad calls, so again, don’t think I am a MAVS hater, I just hate your owner, therefore I will root for the Heat. : )

    Comment by Andrea -

  146. Officials?? how about Dirk bricking the free throw to tie or blowing a 13 point lead….ohhh Cuban still love ya.

    Comment by Anthony -

  147. For all you Maverick retards who think that the Heat are getting all the calls…boo hoo hoo.
In 3 games the Heat have been tacked with 76 personal fouls and 3 techs with 8 players…..the Mavericks–72 fouls using 10 players; and this is with at least 10-15 hack-a-shaq’s/bear hugs. Or an obvious foul when you had no choice because Wade was going to dunk on 3 of your players. In these 10-15…maybe even 20 instances, you were purposely committing a foul.
so your 72 could be in the mid to high 50’s. So cut the BS about the fouls…and have your fans, and especially your owner, just be a MAN about it. You guys remind me of Rasheed

    Comment by Josh -

  148. Was it illegal for the boat to be out on the water? Unless it’s private water or they were docked at a private dock, they should keep the boat there all series. The NBA or officials at the American Airlines Arena don’t have any authority over someone not on their payroll.

As for the game, avery needs to preach to the team not to let up. Dallas let Miami back into the game because with 6 minutes left they stopped pushing the ball, there offense was walk the ball up, dribble around and shoot with 4 seconds left on the shotclock. Not gonna get it done running a halfcourt slow offense.

    Comment by Kyle -

  149. Danny Crawford is a cancer. He’s brought in to make series closer. Case in point, the 2005 NBA Finals. He was an official in both Game 6 and 7 of the NBA Finals. He has something against the Pistons as he tends to call the dumbest fouls against them. He cost $15,000 for a silly flagrant on Rip Hamilton during Game 3 of the Pistons-Bucks series. I definitely would investigate Danny Crawford. If he’s reffing Game 4, the NBA is trying to prevent the Mavs from getting the championship which is an awful shame! Crawford is a punk with a 90s flattop, and someone needs to monitor him closely!

Life is too short to worry so much about other peoples shortcomings as you perceive them. Get a hobby or something. 154. Ok don’t reporters in this world have more to report on than the size diffrence of boats that may or may not be owned by the team owners? Seriously this is BASKETBALL, not a boat show? Whoops my bad for assuming they would report on the game. Also, Congrats to Wade for scoring 42, maybe if he had a team behind him they could win by more than 2 points. Another thing Hats Off to the Mavs for their defense. And most officials suck in my opinion and need to clean their glasses off to really see what is going on in the game or maybe they are just to busy celeb scouting. What’s more important a good reffed game or those celebs that are out there? Once again it is a sport after all. Probably wouldn’t be the same if we weren’t looking for celeberties. But overall I LOVE THE MAV!! NO fear in them losing they are a great team.

I love DA too, but if you think he could defend Wade, you’re delusional…I’d rather see him put Josh Powell in for 2 minutes for no other reason than to put Wade in the first row. If they’re going to give Dwayne the “Jordan treatment”, we may as well get our money’s worth for each foul.

  157. Most of the time when a team loses after being up by that much that late in the game, it’s the coach. I love Avery, but I hold him responsible most for this loss. Double Wade when he gets that hot, make the other guys(including Shaq) beat you. Do something to force the ball out of his hands.

    Comment by Greg -

  158. Mark Cuban,,,

Why isn’t DARRELL ARMSTRONG guarding D. WADE in this series. DA is your best perimeter defender and has the quicks to stay in front of Wade and crowd his space. This is the adjustment Avery needs to make. Just give it a chance. At least try it out in the 2nd quarter and if successful do it in crunch time as well.

okay, we didn’t play well the last 6 min., but that doesn’t change the fact that the officials lead the heat to having an unfair advantage in the end. it was an unfair advantage. that’s it. the win shouldn’t count. we still sweep. in 5 games now instead of 4. that win doesn’t count. cheaters.

i’m sorry, but i’m still peeved. i saw the game. i saw it. it pissed me off.

  161. How often do teams get swept in the later rounds of the NBA play-offs? Not often, and game 3 was a classic example why. The Mavs took the best shot from the Heat early and built a nice lead in the second half. However, once the home team started to make a run they got all the calls. Dwayne Wade would’ve fouled out if the game was in Dallas and situation were reversed. It wasn’t too absurd, but it was a couple calls here and there. Given how close the game was, the refs made the difference.

  162. Mark, you have brought the Mavericks to the pinnacle of the ultimate success in the NBA, because of your belief and commitment to THE TEAM. You’ve embodied it with Trust, Pride, Integrity, Commitment, Talent, and Community Spirit – sharing and caring. Who can beat that? You’ve brought the Mav’s into national light, and all can learn from what they demonstrate minute-by-minute on the floor as well as off. Congratulations and thank you for your leadership and drive!

    Comment by Alexi -

  164. Jef (#101) you nailed it. The only team that can beat the Mavs is… the Mavs. We lost the game last night by slowing back after a 13 point lead. Yeah DWade and Shaq are good, but with the depth they have, we saw the best the Heat can serve… and only lost by two.

Mark, tell Avery to not let up, drive the Heat in the ground, and let’s bring the title home.

    Comment by Chris -

  165. Give credit where due…Wade is a BAD BOY! He showed up and showed out to lead his team to victory. The Heat won, but the Mavs also gave it to ’em…

Let’s not get to where we blame Dirk’s miss at the foul line as the sole reason for the Mav’s loss. I do believe Avery talks about “trusting your teammates.” The Mavs did not show that in Miami! “Rebound and trust your Teammates.”

The Mavs have to pay attention. Wade had 5 fouls with 10:15 remaining in the game and was limping like he was run over by a car. Wait…he was by the Diesel! No excuses Dallas the plan should have been to penetrate and attack inside. The refs would have no choice(eventually)but to call him for his 6th! We wouldn’t even be discussing him having 42 points (15 in the 4th).

I’m like Cuban: a fan. The difference is he’s the owner, now I’m part of the media. So, to the haters, let him be that fan!! The General nor the players have NO COMPLAINT!

From an objective point of view, the Mavs need to review the plan they established to dethrone the defending Champs. They attacked and got to to foul line. Their aggression was noticed by the officials whether calls went Dallas’ way or not, which is why the games were so close.

Dallas Mavericks, game 4 is yours if you want it..set the tone at the start of the game.

The scary part… if Dallas repeats this plan, there are no 1 or 2 point wins in the Finals. It’s a sheer BLOWOUT. My prediction was Mavs in 6.

No time to celebrate now…2 more wins.

    Mark,

Whaddup with the little general trying to run the clock out with 4 minutes to go and (if memory serves) a 9 point lead? you dont do that in hoops.

I compare the gameplan of trying to “drain the clock” with a lead last night to a football coach running on first, second, and third down at the start of the 2nd half with a 2 touchdown lead. you follow? you burn the clock down in hoops with a minute to go. not 4 mins. the last 4-5 minutes of game 3 was so damn frustrating to watch. Your boys ran the shot clock down to 2 seconds on every possession and were forced to toss up a crappy low % shot.

In game 2, you guys had a larger lead, and were pushing the ball harder as well, which helped you stave off any attempt at a comeback from the heat. So why didnt you do that last night?

This series should be 3-0, and its not cuz dirk missed his free throw. Its cuz the gameplan for the last half of the 4th quarter sucked.

Also, what was Avery thinking having dirk inbound the ball with a second to go? i couldnt believe that. At least use him as a decoy if you are going to try and toss up a alleyoop (which was also dumb as hell, but i know, if it worked it was brilliant–still, too risky). it kind of looked like you guys wanted to blow that game to make this series interesting.

Anyways, DWADE is NO JORDAN, he finally had a decent F’ing game – big Fing whoop…

And, Come on Dirk, Geez dude, step up please…. Mavs in 6 !
    GO MAVS!

    HEIL DIRK!

with 10 minutes to go in the 4th, wade had 5 fouls!
as coach, you tell your players to take it to wade!
no excuse for not doing this.
wade scored 12 points in the final 6 minutes and broke up the final play of the game.
poor coaching when it counts, avery!

  170. First, when you have that much dinero, you get to talk!!! Second, it was a combination of both the officials and the Heat. They made some offensive plays, and the officials handled the Mavs on some others. What is amazing is that the Mavs still should have won. As for the officials, I would like to see what they have in europe. Say an official in a big soccer game misses a big call that would have changed the game. They HAVE to face the media and answer questions after each game. Just like players and the coaches are fined if they skip the press conference (although with all the American complaining about the diving in soccer, they are men enough to face the press….Shaq you big baby!!!), so are the officials. And unlike players, officials need every paycheck. Finally, Andrea, lay off the sauce! You come off as an over-obsessed fan of a bad team that had a few too many last week, and never stopped drinking!

  172. Mark,

You’re pretty much the ultimate maverick. Whether it comes to business, ownership formalities, or just stupid society in general, you’ve always taken the bull by the horns and ripped its head off. Points well taken for the refs and the time clock errors…and well, a helluva lot more.

And for all you stupid Heat fans…get freakin’ real. So they have one game which they BARELY won and now everyone out in South Beach has delusions of grandeur. Oh, so now we have a series? Ya think? First of all, Miami didn’t win that game, Dallas lost it. Hey, I’m a Shaq fan…and I’m a D-Wade fan, but two guys from the Eastern Conference Cupcakes are not going to beat a team with such talent and depth, not over the long haul anyway. Considering the Heat bench really sucks, (it’s ok Miami, we know) Flash and Superman would have to carry the entire load themselves…THROUGH FOUR MORE GAMES! And that’s still the case even if “Antoinette” Walker can put aside his masonry skills and make a couple buckets, or maybe if Haslem could add one more “lucky corn row” in that nappy head of his, he’ll have the talent to hard foul another Mav and hurt his OTHER shoulder.

The only team that can beat Dallas…is Dallas. Expect them to come out punching tomorrow night and the time clock will be running correctly…to see how quickly it takes all the refugees in Miami-Dade to scamper back to their barrios and to Freedom Town, when the Heat go down in the Series 3 to 1.

  173. Mark, you should sue the league. Good publicity and maybe something good will come of it…

    Comment by Ian -

  174. The fact is, the NBA has major problems. David Stern is a miserable commisioner. His response is always to silence the critics of the officials. NEVER – not once – have they acknowledged a mistake. Never, ever have officials been held accountable. Until Stern proves to the fans that they want to improve officiating, the league will continue to be diminished.

The Heat were carried in that game last night by the officials. They scored and Dallas didn’t, but the calls swayed everything heavily. The push in the back by Shaquille was SO blatant. D Wade made at least two blatant fouls. The only way you can miss those things is if you have an agenda. Listen to the media about the Heat. There is an agenda. The Heat are not that good. They are so lucky to be here. They got the Pistons at their absolute lowest. The Pistons are a way better team. Dallas is a way better team. It takes an agenda to keep the Heat in this series.

The media has talked about how great Shaq is. Great players don’t sit on the bench at crunch time with a game that close.

    Comment by Kip Schoenborn -

  175. The Miami Herald might not get all of their stories right, but at atleast the readers get some stuff right. Their is a poll on the Miami Herald website asking who will win the NBA finals. The MAVS are WINNING the poll. How embarrassing is that, to actually losing the poll in your own town paper? GO MAVS!

    Comment by Selena McCall -

  176. Anyway you look at it the officials can and do decide games. I don’t think they do it purposely all the time, but more than anything there just in a bad position at the time of the call. I’m in favor of someone putting a little pressure on the referees and the league to do a better job. The heat played well down the stretch, but if the game was called absolutly perfect from tip-off until the final buzzer the mavs could have very well came out with the victory.

I dont think it’s more or less that Cuban is crying but more of the fact that he’s trying to make officiating better. Where’s the red flag like in the the NFL. Lets say each team gets 2 flags if they disagree with a call and they have a chance to dispute the call and get it overturned. I’m sure that would get rid of a lot of the critiscism over officiating.

    Comment by Tim -

  177. I love you as an owner. You care about your team and it shows, but wuit your whining. The Mavericks lost at the end, the Heat made better plays and scored. The refs had nothing to do with Dirk missing a free throw or Terry missing an open pullup or Wade making an open jump shot. Your teamw as outplayed down the stretch and thats all there is to it. Be a man, suck it up and have enough pride to admit it. Apparently now in the nba no team can win a game. Either the officials lose it for the other team or they beat themselves. It’s absurd, just be a man.

    Comment by Geovani -

  178. No matter what city you go to, everyone is always after Cuban, and for what reason? Maybe cause he is not affraid to speak his mind when the “Refs” make bad calls or when he knows nothing got done when it should have. I feel Mark should be idolized by other owners, but no. These other owners want to sit back in their luxury suite and stay low profile. Mark wants to be a part of the game therefore he interacts with the team during time outs and all throughout the game. I don’t blame him one bit for pointing out mistakes the refs made to the NBA. Someone has to step up and Mark is not affraid to do that, and that is why everyone dislikes him because of it. We all should be so lucky that someone stands up for their team the way Mark Cuban does. I know I appreciate it. Do you?

    Comment by J.D. -

  179. Yeah, right. It’s always the officials fault. Quit whining. Your team choked away a big lead in the last six minutes. Couldn’t finish. Not exactly the characteristic of a champion. Suck it up and try act the part.

  181. Mark Cuban complaining and whining about the officials…is this anything new? It has been going on for years. In my opinion the calls have gone the Mav’s way so far this series with all the ticky-tack touch fouls. Not to mention the acting job by the Mav’s 7ft flopper. Dirk, you are a 7ft, be a man and stop flailing your arms and kicking your feet when someone breathes on you or like you have been blasted with a sledge-hammer..
I’ll give credit, the Mav’s are good; they have to be–they’re in the finals. But so far I have not seen anything spectacular that makes me worry. The only thing that worries me is when the Heat shoot themselves in the foot.
The Heat are beating themselves with the stupid mistakes and the missed open shots. But you can clearly see that when the Heat play like the “Heat” there is no stopping us; as evident in the sporadic quarters throughout the series. Once the Heat get it together…watch out!

You guys came back and stunned the crowd in the 4th. In the final seconds, your 90% free throw shooter could have tied the game and sent it to OT.

  188. Last night’s game did not come down to the officials, it came down to Dirk’s missed free throw. It came down to us not being able to match the Heats intensity in the last 6 minutes after going up by 14.

What does amaze me is why is there always something wrong with Wade. Why is there always a built in excuse (flu, knee, etc) who cares? He is a great player, but whats up with the excuse factory?

I knew better than to write the Heat off, but I still feel it is our series to lose. We saw a lopsided loss against Pheonix and responded by putting them away the following night. So Heat fans shouldnt get too excited about 1 win at home, so far all you have done is hold serve. This series doesnt really start until someone wins an away game.

    Comment by Terance Emory -

  189. For Criztal-meth;

U have to be kidding? If u honestly believe that the Spurs and Suns will recoop by next year? U definitely have been in hitting the pipe to hard!

Mavs in 5’ve! Let’s not forget that the Mavs beat the Suns and Spurs at home. And will do the same to the Heat. Accept it and move on.

As for the officiating? It only seems worse when your team plays poorly. The Mavs lost the game 3 not the refs. They had the Heat against the ropes but didn’t deliver the knock-out punch! Be assured that this will not happen again.

Oh btw, your jealousy of MC is showing. If only other NBA franchises had the same type of owner who is committed to their team and fans. Teams would be more competative and you would have a real team to cheer for but for now you’ll have to settle for the Heat.

Anyway, when the Mavs come home to Dallas I’d like to read your comments (or excuses).

    GO MAVS! MFFL!

You are the greatest owner in the history of the NBA. Why may you ask? Because you are a fan. Analogous with terms like player’s-coach you are a fan’s-owner. How many times do you see the business first expression or lack of any expressions on the other owner’s faces when they watch their teams play. Watching you is like watching any other fan out there. You truly love your team and the game. You are not afraid to voice your criticisms of the league and you have the wallet and the balls to pay for it. I am a die hard Knicks Fan….please buy my team! Please!!!!!

You and the Mavs deserve to have your championship. Keep it interesting and thank you.

It’s heart. Imagine what it’s going to feel when we beat them bad calls and all. Especially if they play a good game. Oh and one more thing, I didn’t wash my damn Harris shirt before the game. I am sorry for breaking my ritual I guarantee it’ll never happen again.

  193. Okay about the officiating. Mavs fans have the right to point out we are 1-10 with Danny Crawford officiaitng. Thats just fact. The 4 seconds thing, I have no idea cuz I dont have TiVo. The truth is we played like shat for all but 6 minutes of the ENTIRE game. Heat fans do have something to cheer about, theyre not down 0-3. Id be pretty damn happy with that too. BUT they cant possibly believe that they won because theyre team is the betetr team. They beat us when we played like crap and in the 6 minutes we semi got together we had a 13 point lead. I give my props to D Wade for gettin off the Flu train and finally admitting he isnt sick anymore. He probably hasnt been sick since this series started but why tell the media you just had 2 horrendous games when you can blame it all on an illness and a weak immune system.

    Let’s Go MAVS!

  202. Yes, that four seconds could have helped us…but what about Dirk missing that free throw…and once again I think the best strategy is for Dirk to charge the basket…no fade away jumpers…he keeps missing them…last night…the team just didn’t seem to have the same hunger as the previous 2 games…but I have confidence we can pull through it and win.

    Comment by Jessica -

  203. It is apparent to everyone who has paid attention to the NBA, and the game of basketball as a whole, there are certain players who get preferential treatment from officials. Whether it is an attempt to sway the outcome and promote certain teams or individuals, I do not know or cannot say. But I know this, Dwayne Wade travels on more than 50% of his touches (as does LeBron James), giving an already quick player an unfair advantage. How else can you justify the NBA not allowing the Phoenix Suns butcher Elton Brand consistently two weeks ago? It is a sad state of affairs that hopefully more and more people are beginning to notice and talk about.

    Comment by Tim -

  204. No whining about the officials — they blew calls for boths sides… As a Heat fan, what gets me are the turnovers and missed foul shots.
Everyone in the country is picking Dallas big (even most Miami fans calling talk radios shows).
I will be the contrarian here. The Heat won the EAST easily and deserve to be here. They have not played an entire game in sync since the Detriot series. The turnovers and missed foul shots can be addressed.
Those last 6 minutes of the 4th quarter, Wade turned the series around. The Heat will use this turnaround and win the Championship in 6.
    MARK MY WORDS…

    Comment by John -

  205. From the begining I knew Ref will let Heat win. look how many controversal calls during the game, one Ref call Mavs, one Ref call Heat. while Heat got all the them. even that Heat can not take the advantage to lead the game in second half. finially, impatient Refs helped heat shut down Mavs, luckly Heat took the last 2 mins advantage. (give Heat credit in last 2 mins, but Heat should thank Ref for that)
The fundamental for sportship is fairness. I think for myself, when I travel to other country, I can no longer speak proudly about our NBA, our sports. They would say, “how could you, look at your NBA final from ABC”, I will be speechless.

  206. Look Heat fans…the NBA does not want this to be a sweep. No more commercials, no more promoting the networks, refs wont get paid. Think of all the revenue lost if it only lasts 4 games.

Mark is pointing out a FACT. I tivo’ed the game and actually there were two occasions where the time was not set correctly. And it wasnt because of the clock workers. The referees control this now with their high tech gadgets attached to their belt.

Now you didnt hear one Maverick or coach complain about Damp getting pushed out of the way from Shaq or the fact that Jason Terry’s shot should have counted on that drive.

So no one is whining. The Mavs will go about their business and come back stronger. We all know who has the better team. If the Heat from the Leastern conference werein the West they would be the 5th or 6th best team.

Its funny how cocky the Heat fans get after one miracle. The Mavs always come out firing after a loss. We shall see what happens tomorrow night.

  210. Hey..Dan and Oscar…it’s really odd that you didn’t have much to say when you were down 1-0 or 2-0. But NOW that you have a 12% chance instead of an 8% chance of taking the series you’re back on the bandwagon. You’re going to need a prybar to get the feet out of your mouth by Sunday.

YES, the officiating was horrid and everyone in Dallas has every right to bitch whine and moan about it! I bet the both of you will be screaming the same thing when you get back to BIG D, get hacked and don’t feel the Heat got a fair shake.

    Comment by Josh -

  211. That game cost me 600 bucks. I’m tired of officials ripping wins from me. Wade clearly reached in twice late in the fourth quarter and should have fouled out.
Dampier was clearly pushed in the back by Shaq and no call.
They also missed several over the back calls on rebounds.
They call every foul that harris and van horn commit but they wont give them the same fouls on defense.
I hate the double standard in officiating and I want them to know that it costs some people money who depend on a fair game. They called every 50-50 call the heat’s way. I wish the game would be called the same for both teams.

It doesn’t help that the Mavs failed to execute in the final 6 minutes (not to mention the officiating). I could go conspiracy here and say that the NBA wanted Miami to win game 3 to improve ratings for the rest of the series, but I’m not going there. Dallas was too busy cruising those final minute, and it cost them. I still think the good ol’ Mavs will win tomorrow night by double digits and take it in 5.

  222. I don’t watch sports. Hate sports but LOVE to listen to your interviews on the radio, etc. in Dallas! I wish the Mavs the best though…I hope your team goes all the way!

    Comment by Lynn -

  223. LOL. That is pretty funny. So when it really does come down to it, you don’t want to be fined?

Although I disagree with you about the Miami Officials (the ones that were on the floor from 9-12), I do think the way you commented about the Miami Officials was pretty creative.

Did you consult your lawyer before this post?

    Comment by Bryan -

  224. This series is over. If Miami had to play maybe the best few minutes of their SEASON, have the baskets and free throws go their way, have help from the officials AND a 90% free throw shooter miss a free throw to send it in overtime —- they still barely won this game. Mavs are going to put the Heat away in the next two games. Mavericks are the best team in the NBA and finally everyone will start respecting them as they deserve.

    Comment by JayQ -

  225. Wait…..a Mark Cuban blog blaming a loss on the officials, instead of one that graciously credits the play of the other team? I’m so surprised!

    Comment by Mike Beyer -

  226. HA!…yall are crazy.. you had to know that the Heat would defend thier home on the first night. Doesnt matter though, the Mavs will finish this in 5 in Miami..if not, then 6. The Heat can barely keep up, old fogies…GO MAVS, and CUBAN!…the best owner in all of sports, thank you sir for turning this franchise around.

    Comment by Michael -

  227. It’s all about adjustments…not the refs. Zone defense worked perfectly to keep fresh bodies on Wade and roll off to help against Shaq in the paint. Problem is, when you get a get guard that can drive the distance (like Wade did last night), you have to make mid game adjustments. I think the zone has to keep working, but bench players need to keep producing and running Miami’s guards everywhere. Staying close early is the key. Depth and conditioning will win it in the end.

    Comment by Adam -

  228. Heat fans are pathetic. They are given a gift and then act like they earned it. Sorry Heaters…you gave Dallas your best shot at home and only won by the skin of your teeth. Anyone that thinks this series is going to be close is smoking some serious crack.

  229. The only thing worse than the officals in Miami is the fans.

    Comment by Paul -

  230. FYI this is not Miami’s first NBA finals. They were in against Houston in the 90’s. They lost in four.

    Comment by Jim -

  231. Oo wait, lets not give credit to dwayne wade, I mean, he only scored 42 points, and had 13 rebounds, only i mean, thats it…no credit deserved there. and haslem, no he did nothing, except steal the ball and his the 2 biggest free throws in the night, thereafter Shaqs free throws…its all the refs fault, and 4 seconds that came off the clock…Mark your the best, the smartest, the brightest, most intellectual person I have ever seen. that should be added underneath the definition to SARCASM.

  234. WAhhhhhhhh

You can’t contain D Wade and never will be able to. Now that we know how to strike back

  235. Forgetting the four seconds, for a moment… Where were the offensive rebounds last night?? I have little doubt that Avery will address that for tomorrow’s game, but I couldn’t get over how many rebounds we handed to them on our shots last night…Unbelievable, no?

…Let’s prepare some rebounding-mojo to send through the tv tomorrow night!! We need to take advantage of some offensive boards on the missed shots. Go Mavs!

    Comment by Scott Griffith -

  237. Can you ever Shut Up!!???? Can you ever stop whining?? Jeez, grow up for once. First you deny a boat, then you worry and complain about 4 seconds..I mean, the 4 seconds would have helped us make the comeback that much worse on your team…Please…by the way, I love your flintstones move there trying to show a travel. I think the only person who saw a travel was you..haha, you crack me up Cuban…”Only Cuban not allowed in Florida is Mark Cuban”

Comment by Oscar Cordova Jr -

  238. It wouldn’t be the first time the press gets it all wrong. There was a famous Irish cyclist who was so wary of the press that when doing radio interviews he would respond by shaking his head yes or no.

  239. You had to figure Game 3 was going to the Heat — they weren’t going to completely roll over in the franchise’s first-ever NBA Finals home game. I’m a recent newcomer to the Mavs bandwagon (bear with me, I’m a Pistons fan), and I’m still very confident in my “Mavs in 5” prediction.

    Comment by Jason -

  241. no, actually, i wouldn’t think the officials in miami would be able to get anything right.

  243. hey trey, ididot, maybe they didnt make the playoffs on purpose, now they have an already star studded team with pierce, gomes, green, sczerbiak, aj, perk and now theres also the 7th pick. Now your gonna say, if the team was so good, why didnt they make the playoffs, well its because all of those guys are in there first second or third years and needed just that one more year of experience, and from the way they played at the end of the year they are surely ready to turn it around and play next year.

    Comment by Nicole -

  245. This sucks… I can’t see any comments past #500.

    Comment by Brooke -

  246. Mr. Cuban, why wont you post my comment. Did I hit a nerve? Dirk and Phil are joined at the hip, and you are in such denial. 4 Seconds, or no foul. Even the time out by your boy Josh. He meant, or they should assume. well, you are an ass! So it fits. Second best is all you could hope to be. Quit whining and take it like a man!

  247. officials are really getting worse. and the nba wonders why it’s losing support. its ratings are going down and fans keep leaving. it’s because games are no longer decided by players, but by refs.

    Comment by andrew -

  248. Your comments: here’s an article i wrote for another site:

and the nba wonders why its ratings and fan base are decreasing…

i hate these announcers that try and stay unbiased an applaud the players for lucky calls and lucky shots. a lucky shot is a lucky shot, it’s not wow he had the muscle and poise to hoist that shot in even with the defender all over him. ITS JUST A LUCKY SHOT.

also, this is why i love watching the world cup. the announcers have no pressure from fifa to not bash the referees. refs make mistakes and they should be publicly criticized and punished for it. for example, in the USA vs Italy game, the referee gave out 3 red cards in the first 50minutes of play. he was immediately denounced by all 3 of the announcers. it was later revealed that he had a history of calls uncharacteristic of fifa soccer. also, the fifa world cup threw him out of the world cup. that ref will NEVER referee another world cup game EVER. announcers need to start calling the game how it is, not how the refs call it. bash the refs when they screw up. it’s the only way they learn. i hope mark cuban gets a 200,000 dollar fine tomorrow because at least it shows that he cares about the league; he cares if the NBA loses fans; he cares if people stop watching the finals; he cares if games are interesting; he cares if games are decided by players.

the nba and its referees and made it clear they want players to decide the games. basketball games should be won by basketball players. so i ask you, what happenned tonight?

i think we can all agree that the officiating in this game was very one sided. i mean why did the refs stop with 25 FTs for wade. why not 100? why not 200? hell, for 3 hours we should’ve just watched him shoot free throws. i bet the refs would’ve liked that.

emails the league, talk about the officiating, make the game physical. HELP SAVE THE NBA. oh and just to give you guys an idea of how poorly the NBA is doing right now. game 5 just ended less than an hour ago and on ESPN, golf has the headline, not the NBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOLF HAS THE ESPN HEADLINE, NOT THE NBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just felt it was so important that i had to say it again.

its sad that this is what is going on. game 3 and game 5 of the finals were decided by wade’s free throws. welcome to the nba finals guys. in college wade didn’t get these calls. in college, you have to me mauled to get to the line. i dont care if harris had a touch foul on wade. you don’t know how hard a hit it was anyway, it could have been a ticky tack foul. bring in college refs to officiate the final two games because if refs aren’t going to let the players decide the games, then the nba is gonna lose a bunch of fans. the only way i would send a player to the line to decide a game is if there was blood on the play.

  250. First, bad no call at the end of regulation. Wade pushes off Adrian to make room. I can accept it since it was the end in a crucial moment, but to turn it around and have the foul called to put Wade on the line in overtime is pathetic. Same situation just reversed. Their no call benefits them in the end, and their bad call benefits them (Miami) in the end. Seems the NBA just doesn’t like Mark Cuban. The whole playoffs have been called against the Mav’s.

    Comment by Vincent -

  251. NBA officiating is the worst but it is probably dictated by the league. I saw them call a rare palming violation in game 5 of the finals. Palming has become the new way of dribbling. All a “hesitation” dribble is palming the ball. And fouls? Shaq continues to drill opponents with the shoulder. That used to be a charge. Travelling? Not anymore, Shaq takes his two steps and then jumps into position leaving his feet and the announcers rave ” what a move!” The carrying the ball is the worst, though. Even young kids palm and carry the ball. Oscar Robertson must be drooling. Oh to be able to play in the NBA today!!!

    Comment by William Tyers -

  252. Mr. Cuban, for all you have done and made of your life, you can really embarrass yourself. Sit down, and shut up already. You act as if you are an 11 year old child, sorry, spoiled child. You will not post this, for you truly have poor taste! You can not buy a championship, so you will point the finger everywhere else as to why. Avery Johnson is a fine coach, and one I respected before you hired him. Now he whines just like you! Sit down, shut up, and lose gracefully. If your team comes back and wins it, remember you were just a check book, and Avery did the work. 4 seconds did not matter. It meant a class act would have run 4 more off the clock before getting fouled, not just by Dirk, but by the two other overpaid players you have on your roster as well. Last time i checked, pushing was a foul as well. Do us a favor, and just shut up already.

    Comment by kirk -

  253. Stackhouse was trying to stop an OVER 300 Pound 7FOOT1 man from slamming the damn rim down …of course the foul is gonna be unnecessary .. but suspend a player in the finals…. wheres the HEART.that loss will maybe cost them the series. I always thought STERN WAS A LITTLE FAGGET ASS.. he fines coaches and player left and right for very questoinable garbage. MAVS ARE STILL WINNING IN SEVEN !!!!! GO MAVS!!!

“I’ll repeat once again: IT’S PART OF THE GAME!”
Hey man you are preaching to the choir

As far as Shaq, he has been doing that since college. if people over the years did not back away so often (which I know is tough) then it would be called differently. It is the same sh@t when a shooter drops his arms beneath the defenders, then immediately brings them up for a shot causing the defender to hit cause a foul.
IT is part of the game!!!

    Comment by Josh -

  259. I wish you knew if anyone responds to you. Melissa, i know you will miss me but i gotta go out so please don’t be sad. 😉 If i had known about this blog before today i would’ve been here from the start of the finals. I will be here Sunday whatever team wins. Basketball is a sport and it’s supposed to be entertainment, so please don’t get too upset about the details.

  261. MAVS FANS:

I went to game 1 and it was awesome…if you get an opportunity to experience it…it is worth it…even in “bad” seats. It’s like everyone there was my best friend!

    Comment by Ryan Downey -

  262. Justt as you say if someone is posting up Shaq, they better be prepared for an elbow shot…well, if Mr. Shaq is going for a fast break dunk, he better be prepared to be contested and fouled too…

    Comment by Ryan Downey -

  263. Josh, as I said, not complaining just stating facts. But they are flops nonetheless. Shaq flops, Dirk flops, every player in the NBA flops. As you said, part of the territory. So why bitch about it?

    Comment by Trey -

  264. Josh:

If someone is standing there and he turns into a set defender…that is a foul…he hits them in the head. Stack swiped O’neal while trying to reach over Shaq and go for the ball and put his free-throw missing arse on the line…neither call for suspensions…I’ll repeat once again: IT’S PART OF THE GAME!

    Comment by Ryan Downey -

  265. Ryan, yeah they lost that game (barely). But they came back fighting in game 7 with Terry and won it all. Look at it this way…even if they struggle without Stack, they have 2 more games here in Dallas once he gets back. I, for one, am excited at the thought of them winning the title here at home 🙂

    Comment by Melissa -

    Comment by Josh -

  271. he’s a local sports guy always bad mouthing dallas teams, and making moronic remarks. maybe even a tad worse than yours if thats possible

    Comment by Ben -

    Comment by Ben -

  273. Second.

    Comment by Melissa -

  274. Dale Hansen? who the hell is that? Is he a Nascar racer or something…lol

    Comment by Josh -

  275. I wasn’t saying he’s not important but it’s not like the sky is falling if he’s not playing. Most teams that have had a player suspended rally around that and end up winning those games.

    Comment by Nicole -

  276. But I agree, I personally did not want a suspension…maybe just an ejection.
but that foul was a 50/50 call in my opinion. it was pretty blantant. whether Stack had a differnt objective before he hit him and he did not get the right angle on him, that is a different story. but he took a chance and paid for it

    Comment by Josh -

  277. I motion to nominate Josh as the person knowing the absoloute least about sports ownership and owners on this blog. Will someone please second my motion?

    Comment by Nathan -

  278. BUT just because Stack didn’t play that well in the last game (which, let’s admit it, we only had 1 or 2 who actually showed up to play) doesn’t mean he doesn’t contribute. He has a lot of heart and when he’s good, he’s damn good. It’s definitely a loss for our team, but it’s nothing we can’t handle.

    Comment by Melissa -

  279. Nathan, did you read my comment about that poll. Not even 1000 people voting from the those states. Besides, this is not the Presidential election. Losing the support? LMAO

    Comment by Nicole -

  280. Ryan Downey
the difference is that Shaq holds the ball, keeps his elbows high AND stationary then turns his body. if someone is in the way they are in the way. Shaq never looks for someones face to hit; if your face is in the way better get it out of there. Shaq does not throw bows like Malone or like Kobe did on that kid earlier this season.

    Comment by Josh -

  281. Jerry Jones + Mark Cuban = (2) Great Dallas teams…

The Dolphins used to be tied with the Cowboys as my favorite NFL teams when Dan was around…

Melissa, the only thing that sux: remember how “fired up” they were gonna be when Terry was out? That’s what worries me. I hope Avery keeps them mentally prepared.

    Comment by Ryan Downey -

  282. You’re right Josh, all the other owners in the game are so overwhelmed with worry about the city of dallas and all there fans. Your comparison to Jones and Cuban shows how little you know about either of these guys.

More like the owners hate Mark Cuban because he is the new kid on the block with no basketball or any professional sport experience, And the guy is doing as good of a job as any of them.

Jones fired coaches that we’re winning superbowls because he didnt get the credit. Mark praises avery all the time and mark always had nelsons back too Before he left because of other problems in his personal life. So quit spatting off like you’re Dale Hansen or something.

    Comment by Ben -

  283. That’s what i’m saying Melissa. Stackhouse didn’t even play that well in the last game so i don’t know why they are so upset. I’m a huge basketball fan and i want to see a hard fought game by both teams. I expect Dirk to have a huge game on Sunday, he is due with all the criticism that’s going on.

    Comment by Nicole -

  284. Alright all of you Heat fans…the owner of your beloved team is Micky Arison. I went and looked it up for you since none of you seem to be able to answer my question for me. And just for the record…you just lost the support of HI and ID on the poll. And NM and WV are fading fast.
Definition of HOMER (n): Being the only people in the world that strongly support your team on a controversial issue.
sentence: Miami Heat fans were acting like idiotic Homers on Blogmaverick.com in regards to the Jerry Stackhouse suspension.

  285. Josh, if Shaq is allowed to swipe defenders and knock the crap out of them while abruptly swinging the ball (you can’t tell me that’s not intentional), then what is different about Stack trying to go for the ball and swipe Shaq? Both circumstances stem from his giant body, but happen for the same reason.

I’ve always liked Shaq, never had a problem with him, but that’s the way the game is played. Neither instance should be a suspension…a foul, but no suspension.

    Comment by Melissa -

    Comment by Nicole -

  289. Ben…
I would say the owners do not like him because he is more about himself than the team or the NBA. this more like a trend in Dallas, first Jerry Jones now Cuban

    Comment by Josh -

  290. I’m still here, no worries 🙂 Just getting distracted by my wedding planning…fun stuff.

    Comment by Melissa -

  291. In the end what an espn poll says has nothing to do with the outcome. The league felt that it was a hard enough foul to upgrade it and suspend him for one game so that’s that. As for the person saying even the announcers agreeing with the refs, i don’t take much stock in what Hubie says. And as for the Espn poll you need to take a look at how many people actually voted in each state and what states voted which way. Texas of course is going to get the most votes just because you guys are from there and it’s a huge state and bitter MI fans are going to vote the same way. Most of the other states didn’t even have more then 100 votes so go on with all that controversy crap.

What I’d like to know is, who complains when their team wins?

I thought his primary focus was to clean up the officiating? A bad call is a bad call. Send in tapes of all the bad calls regardless of what team it’s called against. Otherwise, stop trying to create some false sense of nobility (pretending you want to clean up officiating) when all you want is to gain your team an advantage.

Maybe he should buy the Rangers?

    Comment by Ryan Downey -

  295. Of course they have a forum, but this is so much more “amusing” apparently.

    Comment by Melissa -

  296. Ryan Downey…
again, Heat fans are not applauding and rioting our sity that Stack got suspended. But to sit there and seriously say that he was reaching for the ball is ludacris (not the rapper). and shaq was not swiping at Stack in game one. Shaq did not jump, did not move hos arms, Shaq cut off the lane and Stack ran into a brick wall.
As being in the western conference and playing Shaq each year, Shaq has always played where he turns and keeps his elbows high. All Great centers do this. you act like this is new sh@t

    Comment by Josh -

  297. Josh i think other owners dont act like cuban because they think there to good or part of the social elite. those type of people tend to not show public emotion. Cuban enjoys what he does, Cubans desire to watch his college bball team when they were on the road is how he even made the money he has. Since we have gone from one of the worst teams to a playoff contender year in and year out since his arrival, and the NBA makes a hell of a lot more money of the 2000-2007 mavs than any of the pre cuban mavs.

    Comment by Ben -

  298. Nicole,
What the ESPN poll shows is an opinion. Just like you’re sharing yours and I’m sharing mine. Also, most of the people that visit ESPN.com are not just people sitting around watching TV, saw that Stack was suspended and said, “Hey, I wonder if ESPN has a poll on this right now?” And I was not aware that FL, ID, NM, WV and wait…now HI were such hot beds of basketball fandom that they knew all of the rules. Actually FL is the only one that even has a team. Hell, even NY agrees w/ an issue having to do w/ TX for once. The issues are purely subject to league discretion and and it could have gone either way. The fact is there is no rule that says you will be suspended if you committ and flagrant one foul. So stop acting like he punched him or kicked him. He committed a hard foul and they settled in like men on the court.

  300. Josh, I apologize, I didn’t realize you were psychic, and knew that Wade will never do that…then again most guys are as fearless as Stack too.

Josh, why don’t you go watch Miami Vice or something…what do do you get at arguing with Mavs fans? Do the Heat not have a forum?

Too bad too, I’ve always wanted to live in Florida..mainly Orlando, possibly further south…but I’d still be a Mavs fan!

  301. I am with you Nicole

    Comment by Josh -

  302. Ben….
that would have been tough, especially since you guys signed the second best center in the league…eric dampier…lol…what a joke.

    Comment by Josh -

  303. Nicole, maybe it doesn’t prove people know anything about rules, but it does show that almost all of America was watching and disagree with the call (even the refs), especially given the controversy of it and the circumstances (NBA Finals).

America also got many shots right after it happened, and it is clear that Stack was trying to reach for the ball, but Shaq’s so damn huge, he swiped him…no different than Shaq swiping Stackhouse in game 1 and breaking his nose, or busting Dirk in the chops.

The announcers even agreed it shouldn’t have even been a flagrant 2, as with the refs. If the league starts loooking into every single thing, they will find many things that could be in their so-called “suspension” category…most are not even caught by the refs.

That is just part of the game and handing out suspensions like candy will come back and bite the league in the arse…fans will get tired of it, and it will probably happen to the Heat one day as well…pray it’s not an important player, controversial, and in the NBA Finals!

    Comment by Ryan Downey -

  304. if he was our owner, the people of Miami and South Florida and pull our money together and by the team back. How come he does not get more applaud from other owners and other cities?

    Comment by Josh -

  305. Mr. Cuban, I went through nba.com and submitte the following letter. I’m sure the idiots in the league office will never show it Moron Stern, but maybe you can pass it along to him yourself. Here goes…
David Stern, you and your entire office are a joke – the laughing stock of American sports. Let’s review…Shaq splits Jerry Stackhouse’s head open and the refs call a foul, no fine, no suspension, just a foul. Shaq hammers Dirk in the face and this time they don’t even bother to call a foul. Stackhouse fouls Shaq and it’s an automatic suspension.
Now, Jason Terry deserved his suspension for punching Finley during the Spurs series, but this is just ridiculous. Shaq said himself tha his daughters play rougher than that. You’ve been after Mark Cuban since the day he bought the Mavs, and it’s never been so painfully obvious as it was today. You should have just held a press conference to hand Miami the trophy. I’m surprised you didn’t just announce Cuban’s fine along with the suspension – we all know that’s coming, too.
We can all watch games of our favorite teams and complain about individual calls throughout the game. But that’s not what I’m talking about. The inconsistentcy starts at the very top with you, David Stern. It’s like watching the inmates run the assylum.

    Comment by Jeremy Viermann -

  306. Josh,
we would have made the necessary adjustments to acquire or draft one.

Wow is there a number we can call to get a good center? Cause im sure mark/avery and about every other coach/owner would of already picked up the damn phone…. Nice Call though Genius.

    Comment by Ben -

  307. You’re too smart for me to argue with Lo. I bow down to you.

    Comment by Nicole -

  308. Oh Lo,
hate to break it to you but Wade does not complain about being hurt. But when the media is constantly harasing the best player in the series (if not the league) about every injury, he answers their questions and goes out there and plays his heart out.

    Comment by Josh -

  309. “funny how mark only complains when his team loses”

What I’d like to know is, who complains when their team wins?

    Comment by Melissa -

  310. I’m sorry….you would have drafter another dominant 350lbs force like the NBA has never seen and might not see again? Who exactly is this dominant center that has come along in the last two years that you all have had Shaq?
The Mavs are about the TEAM and he is part of it as far as we are concerned in Dallas. Along w/ Nellie they brought us a great winning tradition in Dallas and we are grateful. And don’t think for a second he’s not trying to do what’s best for the city, team, and NBA. If he was the Heat’s owner you all would love him to. Or at least be able to tell us his name.

    Comment by Nathan -

  311. Well, according to alot of the fans, the refs don’t know what they are doing. right? It’s always good to take another look. I’m not saying i agree with these suspensions at all but the league set a tone early in the playoffs with all those suspensions and fines so they need to stick with it. Don’t forget that the Heat have had players suspended so i don’t know how fans can say there’s a conspiracy or whatever they’re saying. It was Stackhouse that got suspended, not Dirk so comparing it to Shaq and Wade is stupid.

    Comment by Nicole -

  312. As I watched the last few seconds of G5 and saw Wade jump into the back court to get the inbounds pass in OT I SCREAMED “over and back” and now it is nice to see I was right. But having said that – the timeout mess at the end is 100% Avery Johnson’s fault. What normally happens is the coach gets the ref’s attention and says to him something like, “After the next free throw we want a timeout”. The ref now knows to expect a request and as soon as the ball goes thru when Avery calls a “timeout” the ref is ready because he was forewarned. Sorry Avery – that “TO” mess is 100% YOUR FAULT

    Comment by Erik -

  313. I love how all the heat fans are saying “stop the whining”. If Wade or Shaq were to be suspended over something stupid, what then?? You wouldn’t be bitching and moaning about it? I find that really hard to believe.

  316. I am new to this blog. I am a Miami Heat fan but nobody is posting to our blog today so I came over here. This one is better today. You Mavs fans are still in the driver’s seat. It is very hard for a road team to win a game in a Finals series. However, since the momentum has greatly turned to Miami’s favor, it could happen this year. This series is at least interesting. I get tired of seeing the same teams in the Finals every year (i.e. Detroit and San Antonio). This series has an unpredictability factor to it. Maybe the Mavs will blowout the Heat on Sunday. I hope not. But it could happen. I thoroughly respect the Mavs players and head coach and I’m sure he will motivate his team for the rest of the series. That being said, Dallas doesn’t have a game breaker like Dwayne Wade on it so I truly believe that Miami will win this series. Mavs fans should be very proud of their team whether they win or lose. I feel that they will return to the finals again many times in the future. I believe that this year Pat Riley is outcoaching Avery Johnson in this series and by a large margin. His experience in making the proper adjustments should not be overlooked. You beat us (Dallas over Miami) in football in the Super Bowl in 1971. It’s our turn to return the favor now in basketball.

    Comment by DavidP -

  317. I did notice the clock issue- not even the commentators mentioned it…

but the biggest observation I made was watching, in slow motion, the owner of the losing team make a travelling motion when Gary Payton made the winning jumper…

have some class, Cuban, your team lost a heartbreaker in Game 3, and you guys got dusted in game 4… how dare you talk about a victory parade in Dallas..

do I need to remind you what your team did after losing 2 at home to the Rockets in Round 1 last season?

    Comment by Jeremy -

  318. When do you think Mark will blog in today? He’s probably trying to come up with an excuse as to why the Mav’s got their asses handed to them instead of giving credit where credit is due. BTW has Riley coached Stack on how to commit a flagrant foul? He should be suspended! Dirty ass thug!

    Comment by Andy -

  319. Mr. Cuban…please do what is best for your team and act like an owner and not an official. You must a tremendously fragile ego to consistantly harrass the NBA. How many film clips and emails does it take to Mr. Stern before you realize the team has to win the game and not the owner. Your spunk is admirable, but it is getting very irritating.

    Comment by Flash Daymon -

  320. Richard,

As a student of the game you should look at the stat lines for the past several years to find out how Dirk has gotten to superstar status. Don’t forget to look at the post season stats from this year.

BTW, since you’re a student of the game shouldn’t you base your opinions on something more than “a few games” of watching someone? I mean that’s as ridiculous as all the people who publicly called out DWade after games 1-2 based on 2 games. Did you happen to watch the Spurs series, where about 65% of Dirk’s shots came from inside the lane, down low, dunks and hard drives? And just out of curiosity, how many players make their living primarily driving the lane on Shaq in a series?

Dallas cant take that physical game. Poor Dik, he looks all fizzled. UD & Posey have him going down and with him not scoring at least 28-30 pts a game, Dallas is gonna go down, thanks to Miami Heat D-FENCE..GO HEAT!!!

    Comment by fran fortin -

  327. Mark,
I know you’ve enjoyed your run to the top – being a northeasterner, I have not developed an appreciation for the Mavs or their star DIRK. Being a student of the game, after having watched Dirk for a few games, I have to ask: how did he get superstar status? A 7 footer on a team with several (4 or 5) big men, Dirk does not have to battle it out inside as most big men do, and subsequently he can hang around the perimter and look for cheap shots – he does have a nice touch (So did Bob McCadoo)! But to compare him to the likes of Bird is a travesty. BTW – Miami has been doing a hell of a job on Dirk – he’s not having bad shooting nights – they got him covered like wallpaper. BTW – Dampier has ZERO athletic ability – trade him after the series while some might think he is worth something.
If you would like some tips, email me.
    Regards

    Comment by trey allmon -

  333. Give the heat all the credit in the world. They did that. And as
a diehard Mavs fan, that’s hard to say. The heat came in and played hard nosed,
    kick your ass basketball.

To all my fellow MFFL’s, don’t cry about the officials, even Bavetta can’t
be blamed fof a 7 point 4th quarter. We sucked. Dirk sucked, Jo-ho sucked, Jet
sucked, Damp sucked, Gana sucked, Quisey sucked, Van trick sucked. Devin and
Stack had a little game. They wanted it more, they took that from us. Don’t
bitch and whine and moan, no ref could have done that. The Mavs better man up if
they want to come home up a game.

All credit goes to the heat from a Mavs fan, ya’ll did that. congrats….

    Comment by trey allmon -

  334. Post 121, I agree 100%. Me and my dad after the game were wondering if the mavs did that to get some extra $$ if it go’s to a 7 game series. He thinks that they do that now for money but I still believe in some bad luck and people being human and making a mistake.

I really wasn’t mad about Dirk missing the Free throw but the Heat had a good last 4-5 minutes of play but not great. The mavs should have pushed the ball to put pressure on the heat and score, their shot selection was horrible and didn’t have many good looks.

I also have been wondering why Adrian Griffin and Diop Start. I think that Del Harris should start for griffin, Harris is a great defender and is fast with his feet. He can also create some problems by getting the heat in foul trouble, and the Mavs can feed off of the foul line. Harris would be much more productive in my opinion. And Diop hasn’t been doing much but a few offensive and defensive boards along with 1-2 easy dunks in the series. He has came out of the game early in the first 2 games, and when he does Dampier comes in with Energy. Dampier has been defending shaq excellently. He also brings in offensive and defensive boards, and can create more of an offensive threat then Diop. Dampier has been doing superb on shaq and is frustrating him a lot. Don’t get me wrong, Avery Jhonson is an Excellent coach and has done something great with this mavericks team but I think that this would really work well against the heat. Terry, Harris, Howard, Dirk, and Dampier could do some trouble.

About game 3, It was exciting, but even great teams go through sluggish quarters and in the playoffs you can’t let that happen. The heat played a horrible 3rd quarter while the mavs played a horrible 4th. It just came down to who could make the shots when it was critical and that night the heat did it.

Dallas has tons of fire power and I am amazed of what Mark has done and the entire staff. I mean, I was never a Dallas fan, not because I live in LA ( I am not a Lakers fan either ) but because their basketball was just fun and not what I like. I like skilled basketball with a defensive and offensive performance. Now, Dallas is a contender and is 2 wins away from winning their first NBA title. I mean, who would think it? its amazing what you have done. And I tip my hat to you. I still am not a Dallas fan, nor a Heat fan, I am a fan of good basketball, and I love all teams who play a good game of basketball, not only skill but also being passionate about it and caring about the game not the money. When I think of Heart, I think of Eduardo Najera from Denver, he was in Dallas, and he isn’t “natural” like LeBron James, or Kobe Bryant, ( not saying anything is wrong with them, and they worked hard for what they have now ) but Najera go’s out on the court and works his A** off and plays with Heart and desire, you could see it in him. Now, Dallas is amazing and at the start of the series I said Miami in 6 because of how they tore through Detroit, and New Jersey. The mavs won the spurs in 7 which i thought would happen due to the lack of speed and youth in the spurs.

Dallas is great, and now i think they will win in 7, but I don’t care who wins, I just want to see good basketball. So great job Mark, and I really like how you care about your team, not like some other owners who rather have their money. I think you are the person who changed the game since you came to the NBA, and I think without you the clippers would have ended their season as with the likes of New York and others. So i applaud to you, I hope that you don’t get bothered or ridiculed because you care about the nba. Go Heat + Mavericks!!!!

It’s beyond ludicrous for Dallas fans to complain about officials when Dick Bavetta is one of them. Get out the tape and watch the game again, and check Bavetta’s calls, and from where he made them, and against which team.

Here’s a clue for you: If not for Dick Bavetta, the Spurs would be in the finals, not the Mavs. Don’t look the gift horse in the mouth.

If any of the following officiate the games, Dallas fans should not even think about complaining:

    Dick Bavetta

    Steve Javie
    Bennett Salvatore

    Keep your credibility.

  342. Oscar, what tv stations have you been watching? The only person on ESPN to pick the Mavs was Greg Anthony. Even when the Mavs went up 2-0 most of the so called experts said the Heat would win. Please don’t start crying about being an underdog. Both teams are very evenly matched up and it should be a good game on Sunday. The only reason the Mavs have been favored in this series is because of having home court and the third best record in the NBA this year. I never get cocky and make stupid comments because of games like this, it sucks having to eat crow.

  343. I want to report a mugging! Why is it you can’t breath on the likes of Duncan and O’Neil, but Dirk can be continuously mugged at the offensive end? The NBA ought to be ashamed with the quality of refereeing at both ends of the court. Are they watching the same game as us?

As for Mr. Cordova – enjoy it while you can – Mav’s shooting will improve and in another week all you’ll have left for entertainment is stare in the mirror at that lame D-Wade tattoo you had etched on your forehead and wait for next year.

He does each time he is double teamed. Avery needs to bring this to the officials attention. He has already done it in game four and it has just started.

  361. East Coast: Yes I can read, thanks for asking. Now I wonder if it is you the one that can’t. I don’t recall his post specifying it was against the law for fans to do that, only that he (personally) did not like it when they held up signs in his city. By the way, if you still don’t understand, that means it’s his opinion and he’s free to express it. And in the spirit of competition, he’s telling those who do that to take the signs down and go home. He realizes it’s legal – you missed that part I think.

The Mav’s need to finish Miami’s comeback thoughts in this case once Miami is down by 10,12 or 13 points the Mav’s need to seek more…in essence kick them while they are down…Miami cannot play better than they did last night. Guys enough of offensive fouls, lazy passes, and the sweep cannot happen anymore time to move on. The first three qtr’s count but it’s the 4th quarter that separates winners from losers…It’s time to close out the Heat.

  368. The only thing that can keep the Mavs from winning this series is the Mavs. The ability to learn from mistakes and put this disappointment behind them and move on is the measure of a champion and the measure of character. This is where Avery comes in. The key to game 4 is which coach does the best job in getting his team mentally prepared. If the Mavs dwell on what could have been ( like we fans have done all day) instead of taking care of business, they are done. I hope they get over game 3 better than I have. Still optimistic but concerned. This has the feeling of a change of MO, but I am usually too negative.

  373. Cuban, you are the absolute man. I want the Mavs to win soley because of your. Dirk and the gang are awesome, but you’re the best owner in pro sports. And I’m from New England.. We’ve got a guy named Bob Kraft who treats us well.. But you’re just a fan of the game who happens to be an owner. We need more owners like you who actually have a love for the game instead of a love for money.

Ever think of selling the Mavs and buying the Celtics? I know you want to.. Oh and I hope you do eventually buy a baseball franchise, Id love to see the faces of the ex Pirates owner when you have them in the World Series in 5 years. keep it up man!

  376. Your blog was number one on Yahoo blog searches. 🙂

I was really upset after last night’s loss, then I realized that it would be completely unfair to the HEAT fans if we completely swept them. Let them have a game to enjoy. I know I would be utterly distraught if the MAVS had lost the home game I attended during the Western Conference Finals.

    Comment by Roxana -

  377. Hey Mavs Fans….stop hating. The officials suck in every game for every team. D Wade won that game . The Mavs did not lose it. However, if that boat really isnt yours Mark, I agree that the Miami officials are pretty bad at trying to market you.

  378. Hey Mark,

I am a die hard fan, came to see you guys play in Phoenix from Seattle and I just wanted to give you the NEW lyrics for the Jerry Stackhouse theme song. It goes to the Commodores Brickhouse, just sub in my words and it works great!!! Best of luck in Miami tomorrow and take it home in 5!!!! Go MAV”S!!

    Chorus
    Ow, He’s Jerry Stack—House
He’s mighty, mighty just letting it all hang out
    Ow, He’s Jerry Stack—House
That man is stacked and that’s a fact
    Ain’t holding nothing back.

    Ow, He’s Jerry Stack—House
Well the Mav’s are together everybody knows
This is how the story goes

    He’s knows he’s got everything
That a team wants in a guard, yeah, yeah.
How can he lose with what he use
    27-2.8-2.9, what a winning hand.

    Chorus

The clothes he wears, his dominant ways
Make any teams wish for another day
He knows he’s great and how to please
Sure ‘nough to knock a strong team to their knees

    Chorus

Shake it down, shake it down
Shake it down now (repeat 6x)

  385. I never really dislike the MAVS. I didn’t understand why the fans and the owner wanted to be known as Mother Fers For Life, but I had no problem. Until I came to this blog. Cuban is a whiney, manipulative little business cronie trying to pose as somebody “real” the fans can relate to. Some (not all) of the fans are rediculous, overly confident, give no credit where due, and as obnoxious as the owner. And Dirk…Hasselhoff. Enough said.I respent Avery Johnson and really admire Jason Terry’s talent. That said, I really wish it was San Antonio or even Houston in your place. Let them both re-coop, see what happens next year.

  386. Heat fans are hilarious. “Mavs can’t stop D Wade!”. Uhhh, they did a pretty good job in games 1 and 2.

Bottom line, Heat got lucky as hell in game 3. The Mavs will take one in Miami, and seal the deal in Game 6 on homecourt. Bank it.

Heat fans are getting just as bad as Laker fans, and I didn’t think that was possible.

  389. I think the Heat fans who populate a Dallas owner’s blog is the lamest thing I’ve ever seen. And I think MC is a great person not to even use your IP addy against you because you’re trashing him. I would. But I’m a jerk. My point is, it’s funny how a Heat fan (Andrea) would say the Mavs don’t even belong in the finals. They don’t huh? Why? Because of the Manu foul? Well, the Mavs were up 3-1 and needed Jet Terry to make a stupid play for the Spurs to get back in. Was it because poor lil’ Amare was sitting on the bench in the Phoenix series? Well, of course if they had Amare they might not have had some of that grit and integrity that they championed so much. Who really belongs in the finals here? Last I checked Miami was a 52 win team, compared to a team that hit 60. 60, in the Western Conference. And the only reason Miami beat Detroit is because the Pistons settled for jumpers and refused to double Shaq. Ask any Pistons fan who’s the better team. Just my two cents.

CLEARLY had a blocking foul at mid-court, but he never got called for any of his fouls! Why is this? Probably because Stern and the NBA want to milk this newbies Finals for all it’s worth.

When D. Wade got his 5th foul my boyfriend and I were high-fiving each other because we just KNEW he would foul out. What we didn’t know is that the NBA and the Refs are just CROOKED!

  409. We can have a dramatic impact on the NBA to penalize it for its lack of integrity and objectivity if we choose to do so. All we have to do is refuse to purchase ANY NBA merchandise and encourage everybody we know not to purchase NBA merchandise.

If the league sees a massive drop in sales of items that can be traced back to Dallas and Texas, then perhaps it will get the message that we are mad as hell, and we are not going to take it anymore. They might not understand anything else, but they damned sure will understand the loss of revenues.

Starting today, get everybody you know to buy no officially-licensed merchandise. If you want to show your Dallas Mavericks spirit, then buy T-shirts, ball caps and other items ONLY from those selling unlicensed merchandise.

  412. Has anyone else seen the refs this series let alone the whole freakin’ NBA playoffs? I’ve never seen some much B.S. Let me point out the one thing that bothers me the most. Dirk Nowitski is getting fouled all the damn time whether it is getting a defensive or offensive rebound or Dirk trying to get position against the Heat defense. This coupled with Shaq constantly fouling people and getting away with it is just freakin’ amazing.

  413. Mavericks got punched in the mouth yet again. Not once, not twice but three times and all they do is cry!!! The fouls…the refs…whaaaa. How about using the cheapest trick in the book? THE HACKASHAQ. Play like men. Dirk is soft and so are the Mavs.

Who cares what the Heat have as far as talent. What they do have HEART and they take care of business.

I can’t wait to hear more crying and seeing your dorky fans join the dorky Cowboys fans on how they once again were robbed!!

  414. Please stop whining about the officials. If you are going to blame anyone, blame Howard for not knowing when to call timeout. Or blame Avery for giving the sign at the wrong time. Dirk was complaining about the officials that they should know they didn’t want the timeout then. Well, that is not their job to know what you want. Sorry. Give credit to the Heat and to one of the best players in the league. If you like basketball, you KNOW he is fun to watch. He has been doing it ALL season long. 42,36,43. Enough said. Oh yeah, DIRK RULES ALL STATIONARY BIKES! Maybe he should have listened to a certain cd before the games for some inspiration.

    Comment by Andrea -

  415. You guys got robbed last night. That was horrible how it all went down. Dirk earned the win with his incredible shot, while Wade was given a gift for being out of control driving to the basket. How can officials give game to the Heat like that? Unbelievable really! Good luck in the next two games. This series should have been over already. You have pretty much outplayed the Heat the whole series. I really dont care who wins but since Cuban went on live TV and announced the parade and put down Pat who by the way has three championship rings and you have how many o ya 0. Grow up play the game one call cant win a game its won on how you play from the start. Dirk should be suspended for punting the ball and kicking the bike and table. Dirk the kids you work with are watching and no wonder our youth have so much violence look at what they see. Good luck to both teams but its a game remember when it was played for fun and not whining about every little thing.

The Mavs, from owner down to water boy should consontrate on being the best team. At this moment the best team is The Heat. To win, all you need to be is, the best. That’s all.

  419. Seems like the crowd has quieted down a little since Miami is up 3-2. The earlier post was absolutely correct in saying that Mark has been at the front when trying to reduce the physiciality of the NBA from the Riley-Knicks/Heat rivalry in the early 90s. (which I happen to be glad this is happening, although it seems to be going a little too far) BUT, Stackhouse wouldn’t have been suspended if he made a play on the ball. He didn’t. He made the call a fairly simple one for the league office.

“Why the anger there bud? GO MAVS….MFFL”

  426. And now, we are martyrs. Usually, after a tough loss, I feel a little frustrated with my team and a little disgust with the opposing team. After last night, I have nothing but respect for the Heat. They didn’t do anything wrong. But, I spent several hours last night angry and in disbelief with the calls and non-calls from the refs. No call on Wade’s charging into Terry? Fine, NBA finals are supposed to be a little loose. No call on Wade’s backcourt violation? Sure, we don’t want the refs to ruin a fantastic effort from both sides. Calling a phantom ticky-tack call on Wades last drive. Absolutely ridiculous. Even the East friendly ESPN commentators were in agreement that this was a bad call. Should we just ask the refs who is going to win the game before it starts? I understand that David Stern wants to change the game to a less physical type of NBA. No prob. But, please wait for the offseason. Have a clue and show some consistency. I have never seen such bias in any sport in all of my life. Hey Stern, Game 6 and 7 will be in Dallas. Are you sure you want to attend? You have incited even the most casual fan to anger. Imagine what the fanatics are thinking/planning. Us against the world? No, that’s just silly. Us against Stern and his goon squad refs? You got it. And it’s deadly serious. Welcome to our backyard NBA. Pull that crap again and God help you. David Stern, you might want to sit this one out. I almost feel sorry for you. Almost. See you Tuesday!

  433. I can’t wait to hear what you have to say next. I am soooo pissed right now. I felt like doing exactly what Dirk did after the game. Kicking everything. Yes, we missed a couple of critical foul shots, and with a little better playing we’d have been up a few more points so it wouldn’t have been so close…. BUT after I got done watching that game the only thing I can think of is RIGGED! This is straight up bulls**t. They get a kick out of suspending our players over something that was clearly resolved DURING THE GAME! And then come back with some serously bad calls. And they even stated on ESPN right after the game that the officials could have helped out and not taken that time out call. They knew it wasn’t right and all they had to do was ask…”Are you sure you want it here or after the 2nd shot?” But noooooo, Heaven forbid they mess with whatever freaking kickback those suckers are getting from some snobby rich Miami fan, player, owner, etc. I hope with everything in my soul that Terry, Stack, Dirk and the rest of the team get pissed off and fired up and beat the hell outta them when we come home. Dallas deserves this. We didn’t have some NBA big shot carrying our season, we have many strong players that have worked hard to get here and are in the process of earning their NBA superstar status. And I have no doubt that they have and will continue to be MVP players.
I am not stupid enough to try to blame everything on the officials, we made errors. But look at the fouls. The numbers just aren’t right.
I believe in my team. I know we have it in us and I know at home with the support of the fans Dallas can bring it back and take that trophy. And even if we don’t, I am proud of what they have done this season and I know we will continue to be a strong team and dominate the NBA. You are a great team with great players, great coaching, great fans, a great owner, and a great city and state behind you!
    Bring it all home!
    GO MAVS!!!!!

  434. Okay, lets talk a bit about game 5 and some of the blown officiating and bad miscom between dallas coach and players. There were so many blown calls in that game I can’t even think of where to start so I will hit the big ones.

OBVIOUSLY ANY REF SHOULD KNOW NO TEAM WOULD WANT THEIR LAST TIMEOUT AFTER THE FIRST OF TWO FREETHROWS WITH 1.8 LEFT. There is no way anyone can justify that kind of stupidity from the officials. Granted Howard was walking to the bench, but maybe he just wanted to pow-wow with Avery. In a FINALS game 5 when the series is tied, the officials should shut up, put up their whistles, and let the players decide what the outcome will be. I remember watching Jordan push someone(Not sure who) OUT OF THE WAY WITH HIS ARM AND HIT A GAME WINNING 3. Was their a whistle? No, because the players of that era weren’t the pansies that D-Wade, Lebron, and the others ‘Superstars’ of the 03 draft are shaping up to be.

Wade wasn’t fouled when he went up to the rim on his last shot. You can debate it all you like, his arm wasn’t hit, Nowitzki didn’t push him at all just had his hand on him, and if you want to say he was bumped by whoever else it was beside him (Think it was howard and terry) in all honesty it shouldn’t have been enough to throw off his shot. It was a prayer of a shot in a 3 on 1 situation, and because they were in Miami with some bunk officiating, the game was decided off of a stupid ref’s whistle. Disgusting, utterly disgusting.

For those of you reading this saying I am knocking Miami, I am. I am a mavs fan, of course I am going to knock a team we lost to. Wade’s performance was good..but lets face it, if Dirk made it to the line more than the entire opposing team combined do you honestly think he wouldn’t be breaking 40 without a sweat? He had 20 with Miami trying to double him all night and was the go to man in the clutch when we were down. It is all good though, mavs are coming home back to Texas. We will see how long the Miami heat fans say their team is better once the refs get off their knees and stop blowing the game.

    P.S.
I’m not going to touch the backcourt violation. And Mark, if you read this, I watched that pee-wee game of yours back when you were three…Heartbreaker man, Heartbreaker. Haha.

  435. I’ve been watching the NBA for 25 years and I’ve never seen so many players get suspended for things that I thought were insignificant. NO way in the old days STACK would have been suspended for the game…

But, Wade is a badass and no one can take that away from him… what a clutch player. Not sure what it would be like if KING james played with Shaq so it is hard to compare, but, what a player Wade has become. He is so fun to watch. So clutch last night and I am MAVS fan.

  436. I’m not one to say that the officials cost a team a game very often but, that was the absolute biggest bucha bullshit I’ve ever seen. It literally made me sick to watch it. They could’ve easily not called half those fouls on Wade and the Time out WTF!!!! They’re trying to screw the Mavs right out of the Championship. But it aint gonna happen we’ll drillin twice in Big D No Prob!!!! Gotta Believe!!!

  437. Trey, I’m cool with “flopping” as long as Mark/Mavs don’t whine about one team/player doing it, then doing it themselves. What’s that about? It’s ok for them but not for others? I’m saying the Mavs need to shut up and quit complaining about flops/calls/etc. and then doing it themselves and expect to get away with it.

  438. To all those Miami Heat fans – just remember one thing…you winning hasn’t been accomplished by your team….it was “orchestrated” in coordinance with the officiating. I’m not a die hard basketball fan – I’m a fan of good playing and good officiating and when you have the officials working to put the opposing team in a position of “less attack” based on the officials calls towards the MAVS vrs. their “closing eyes” when the Heat clearly should have had been fouled just goes to show how easy it is for the home team to win. Guess what though — here in Dallas….we know how to deal with “HEAT”. Go MAVS.

  439. As a long time Rocket fan I can tell you that Dallas isnt gonna rise to the top till you all forget about the officials. We got robbed against Philly in 77,Boston in 82, and had terrible calls in 86. When Rudy became coach he stopped the complaining and we won. He said,we had to play good enough to beat the bad calls, and he was right.
You have the better team, the better coach, and a the better owner.
NBA is just high class wrestling because of officiating. It has always been that way. Look at Jordan, what a joke. He fouled someone on every play. You have to let it go. Then you will win.

I am a die-hard Philly fan and believe me, I can certainly understand the anguish you went through last night. No titles in 23 years after many, many monumental sports collapses. Joe Carter, TO, Sixers are bad, ect, ect…. As hard as it was last night, and it was tough when the refs handed that last foul to Wade, you have to hang in there man. The Mavs were jobbed, but you are headed home! Your team and your fans need you to stay positive. The home team has won every game and you must continue to believe that. The anger is there, and believe me, I have 23 years of anger with my sports teams. However, the positive is that you are right there, playing for the title in your arena. When you took over the team, this is what you dreamed of. Now it is right in front of you. Forget the refs/Stern/League and look ahead. Believe….. and anything can happen. Hang in there kid. It’s tough now, but it will get better starting on Tuesday night. Keep the faith.

  444. Ok I’m not usually a Mavs fan that complains about us not getting any calls, however tonight I think we actually have something to complain about. 49 attempts for Miami vs 25 for Dallas? Yah I think Salvatore decided to take things into his own hands after Avery pissed him off and he T him up. I was watching it closely and five straight possessions down on the Dallas defensive end he called fouls against Dallas. Yah and he wasn’t being biased at all huh? I’m not going to say this is the reason Dallas lost the game however, it certainly didn’t help.

I also know that all you Miami fans are going to come on here and say that I’m whinning about the calls for the reason for us losing the game. However, I’m not saying that, we had opportunities to win this game and didn’t the two biggest factors at the end were Josh missing both of those foul shots and him making a bone head play and calling the time out. T

There was also two other key plays that cost us the game at the end. When Wade drove to his right and banked one off the glass and guess who called a foul against Dallas? Guess who Salvatore. Also the final foul that gave Wade two more free throws at the end oh yah Salvatore.

  450. Game 5 — what a crock of _*@#! The officials were either blind or have Vegas bets on this one.

How about the lack of fouls called on the Heat. Nowitzki and Terry are practically getting mugged on every play, yet Wade is able to initiate contact and get fouls called on the Mavs. Take the two free throws at the end of the game tonight — Wade was out of control, yet they bail him out with a phantom call on Dirk! And don’t get me started on the timeout call — I mean, they have to be able to understand when a player is communicating with his coach and not looking at the official calling a timeout. These officials tonight practically handed the game to Miami. That was the worst officiated game that I’ve seen of these playoffs yet.

Mark — if you need 6 more fouls to hack the $#!# out of Wade or Shaq, just let me know. I’ll be glad to do it — and with my limited basketball skills, you guys wouldn’t miss me at all for Game 7. I think we’re still taking it in 7. GOOO MAVS!!!!!

  454. More inconsistency in the 3rd Quarter…
The Mavs were in the penalty half way through the quarter and the Heat shot 18 freethrows. Meanwhile, the Heat were called for a grand total of TWO fouls (zero free throw attempts). And the second was a cheap reach in with 11 seconds left. One foul in 11 1/2 minutes? This series gets more ridiculous with every possession.

  458. Stu Jackson has probably just ruined the NBA for me. I know the NBA wants the more popular team with the more popular players (THUGS: Mourning, Shaq, and Walker) to win, but let’s not make it obvious. Come on NBA, if you’re going to let the Heat win, at least call some fouls on the Heat so it’s not so blatant. Heck, if things get out of hand tonight because of the officials, which we know it will, I think Avery should pull the Mavs right off the court in the 4th and head straight for Dallas. I mean in twenty years people may not remember the Champ of 2006, but they will remember the team that said, “Screw you officials, screw you Jackson, screw you Stern, we don’t play with cheaters!” I think in twenty years everyone will remember that.

  459. I am happy that Stackhouse knocked Shaquille O’Neal sideways for looking to get cute with J-Will at Dallas’ expense.

Shaquille talks out of the side of his neck. One minute he is saying that his daughter hits him harder than Stackhouse did and now he is saying that it was a hard foul. Shaquille needs to admit that he got your butt kicked and is e embarrassed!!!! Shaq says that everyone is afaid of him. It sure didn’t seem like Stack was afraid.

Oh yeah, and the excuses Shaq made as to why he did not retaliate… Please Shaq got hit so hard that he was dazed and drooling! Check out the film..

Dallas will be fine.. Dallas has had a lot of bad luck and now it is time for some good luck. Dallas will prevail!

And BTW…why do you keep referring to “the Heat’s owner”…he is 1 of 5 people that own the franchise. Suspension or not, Stackhouse made the right play. Hard foul on the easy layup attempt…especially when the opponent is looking for a highlight. And didn’t it seem Shaq wasn’t nearly as aggressive underneath the basket after that?

If the refs just call it both ways…which they dont…we wouldn’t be having this discussion. You can’t no call a shove into the 2nd row on a Dirk/Terry/Stack jump shot, then call a touch foul when DW makes a move to the lane. Call it even or dont call it at all.

  463. If the same stuff happens again on Sunday, I think the Mavs should go on strike and sit on the bench and not come off after a time out.
Would that not be a statement to put it in the NBA’s face?
I know the Mavs would be punished for it, but what is the difference? It is very obviously that the NBA did not want the series to end to soon ($$$$$$$), for sure don’t want the Mavs to win and I think that they are making a point by doing what they are doing (corrupt, they are) for what Mark has been trying to do all the time since he took over.
Stern get your act together and let us enjoy basketball. We don’t need no stinking politics on the court.
I suggest to Mark that if we win he refuses to shake hands with the NBA officials and give them an ear full after the game in front of everyone on TV.
Go MAVS, you are the best, and we will win it all.

Even the amnnouncers agreed, not even a flagrant 2. Stack and Shaq even shook hands afterwards and noone made a big deal of it (at least as far as we know).

It is totally unfair to punish a whole team and their fans for such a controversial foul not even called on the court of play. If you wanna punish him, fine him..don’t punish the team, the fans, not to mention a fair series.

    Comment by Nicole -

  482. Ok… Here’s the deal. I read earlier that Jason Terry swinging at Finley’s nuts was unwarranted… Correction!!! Finley has no nuts and all Mavs fans know it. Desperate move to try to win a championship is what he made. It didn’t work.

Just as the Mavs took out the better teams in the playoffs, so too will they extinguish the heat. The heat have the Siegfried and Roy of the NBA. Yeah, they are alright at doing what they do, but they are still gay. It’s funny how the media has portrayed the two teams. One as a first-class organization (Heat) and the other as whiney brats (Mavs). Who in the hell did Miami beat to get here, 2 high school teams and Detroit?

What it will come down to is the Mavericks will eventually get tired of the ref’s bullshit and go ahead and do what they did in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, against teams that are much better than the SHEAT(shit) from Miami, take the ball, put it in the damn hole, and tell them all to “F” off! We’ve consistantly beat the opposing team as well as the refs because we’ve had to in order to get where we are today.

I’m sorry to disappoint all of the SHEAT fans as well as the Maverick haters, but we will have the championship here in Dallas in 2006. As a clever man once wrote “AS THE SUN GOES DOWN, SO DOES THE HEAT!”

After game 2, how many of you Miami fans were on the brink of suicide? More than you guys are willing to admit I’m sure. Just sit back, relax, and take this ass whipping that yall are going to get courtesy of TEXAS! And believe me, it’s definitely personal!

  484. Let me make sure that I understand this. Baby Huey Shaq can elbow Dirk in the Jaw, can open a Wound under Stackhouse Eye. He can sit in the Lanes for 3 minutes waiting to deliver a hard foul.

Yet a player that weigh 100 pound less than him is tossed out of the most important game of his career, because of a hard foul. Cry baby Wade, complains every game about not being healthy, searching for sympathy from the REF, and yet he scores 30+ points. Its obvious Miami can’t win in a fair smart game of basketball, but have to result to Cry Baby “THUG” ball. Hello we are not in the Projects. The officiating haven’t been consistent, nor is the fines warranted, our (Dallas)news crews broadcasting from Miami have been taunted by their stupid fans. Simply no class!

So here’s my Dear John Letter to Miami.

    Dear Miami

There’s one thing for certain, you have just unleased a monster, you may want to call Tim Duncan……oh sorry. In the words of Charles Barkley “They’re gone fishing”, the same place you’re heading, and the best part, you won’t have to travel far.

    Go Mav’s. Kick their ass.

    Lo- Dallas.

Well, you get where I’m going. I know if I got punched in the nuts I’d be doubled over in pain, not running around looking incredulous!

  487. Ben…
I can CLEARLY see from the overhead shot that Stacks right forearm hit shack in the head. the extended arms are a result of a follow through towards Shaq’s head

  488. “The Heat owner and every other NBA owner has enough sense and just enough class to not have a blog bitching and whining about everything under the sun.”

Say what you want to say, but Cuban is a damn good owner. And why not bitch when he can? He can afford any fines he’s given, so why the hell not? He’s getting attention from it, the NBA is getting attention and ratings from it, and each time he’s fined more money goes to charity.

  490. Too bad…maybe our education system would not suck so bad if somebody did yell at them for once. Don’t forget we have the owner that Shaq wanted to play for when he was being traded by the Lakers. If they would not have refused to trade him to a Western Conference team I would like to see where you all would be w/ Mourning and Doleac. And what is the name of the Heat’s owner?

    Comment by Nathan -

  491. Trey…
i personally do not remember one, but it comes with the territory. Maybe Shaq is getting back at Dirk because he flails and flops when someone breathes on him. game four we were much more aggressive with him, but 1-3 it was all night

    Comment by Josh -

  492. Nor do I do I have the CEO where I work patting me on the a$$ and screaming at the dept of education

  493. The Heat owner and every other NBA owner has enough sense and just enough class to not have a blog bitching and whining about everything under the sun. If you want to invade a board for fans then that’s what a TEAM MESSAGE BOARD is for. And don’t tell us if we don’t like it, to not come here. Cuban brought this on himself by all the damn publicity. I never even knew he had a blog until i heard about it in the media.

    Comment by Nicole -

  494. First off, if you watch that foul on shaq from any other angle you see him hit shoulders with shaq not hit shaqs head, and stack has both hands extended trying to knock the ball down… They just showed it in slow motion from 10 different angles on Sports fox.

And why is the NBA so quick to dismiss Shaq. Hes thrown atleast a dozen elbows in games 3/4.. Even your coach Pat Riley doesnt think theres a such thing as an ACCIDENTAL ELBOW read it for yourself.

”[Bryant] got [Wade] in the face pretty good, so the hell with it,” Riley said. ”That’s what I say. If a guy’s going to elbow you in the face, this is not about that. There are no errant elbows in this game. They are well placed and well thought of, and [Wade’s] not going to take that from anybody.”

  495. Hell no. Say what you want about Cuban, but he’s a true fan and not just an owner. How many other owners sit by the court and actually join in with their team during timeouts?

    Comment by Melissa -

  496. Josh, anytime 350 lb. Shaq draws a charge on 165 lb. Devin Harris automatically constitutes a flop. Come on. Shaq has drawn 2 in this series off of him. Not complaining, just the facts. A Toyota Tacoma cannot push a Peterbuilt off a bridge. Physics you see.

    Comment by Trey -

  497. Sorry about all of the typos in the last one. I’m just a little worked up as all good MAVS fans should be right now. There’s still three to play and they’re coming back to DALLAS, so don’t get down on your team and just keep cheering them on. Don’t be like the sorry-ass Miami fans and boo the MAVS….no matter what happens. Oh yeah, does the Heat ownership even care enough to have a blog for Mavs fans to invade? GO MAVS!

  499. And they did make excuses talking about they still had a hangover from game 4 and they let game 3 slip away. How about they played like crap and Miami played a better game and better defense? At least Avery gives credit and that’s what i like about him. He keeps it real.

    Comment by Nicole -

  500. I know the rules of basketball and how flagrant fouls work. Don’t try to patronize me. You were probably one of the sorry ass Heat fans booing their team towards the end of game three wheny the Mavs went on their run in the 3rd. Any fan that boos their team in the FINALS does not deserve what the Heat have done in the last two games. Did I not say that he deserved the flagrant one? I believe that I did. What he does not deserve it to be suspended by pure league discretion in the frigging FINLAS. I’m not a basketball novice. I know the game and loved it when it was more pure. When you could actually compete and committ a HARD fould without worried about getting suspended. He did not punch, kick, intentionally throw down, or violently elbow anyone. He just committed a hard foul and after the play him and Shaq made their peach w/ each other. And by him and Shaq making peace the players settled it on the floor, which is how it should be done. Not be Stu Jackson sitting in New York w/ David Stern smiling over his shoulder.

    Comment by Nicole -

  504. Gee, I feel so intimidated being all ganged up on and all. Whatever. I’m not saying one of our players has never in their life complained about a bad call. Anyone on any team is going to complain at some point. But ya’ll make it seem like our team whines and complains like the Spurs. And that’s just not true.

    Comment by Melissa -

  505. stay on the topic sweetie

  508. Melissa, you don’t know what you are talking about. Your players don’t whine? I heard Dampier whining about calls he didn’t think were fair after Game 3. Know what you’re talking about. It’s too funny how you keep responding because trust me i love to debate and i will definitely keep responding to you.

    Comment by Nicole -

  509. Because i think it is entertaining to watch you guys act the way you do. and last time i checked you had over 50 postings for this blog
Not to mention we look for competative talk, not the rhetoric you spill out

    Comment by Josh -

  510. Yeah because that makes so much sense. Come to a Maverick blog, and then complain about homering.

    Comment by Melissa -

  511. Forget the owner. You said “you guys”. Cuban, although I love him dearly, says lots of things that make us want to hang our heads in embarrassment. You said “you guys” which sounds like you’re speaking about the players and the fans. Sure, a lot of fans won’t admit the wrong-doings of their team but I will and many others will too. They played like crap last night. There were bad calls on both sides, but we played like crap. And the players certainly don’t whine and make excuses. They own up to it, like they should.

    Comment by Melissa -

  512. Ok, the officiating is really bad.I thought it was bad during the Spurs series, but this is worse. It sucks that Stackhouse is now suspended for game 5. How about Shaq hitting Dirk in the mouth during game 3? Also in game 3, Shaq hitting Stackhouse in the nose almost breaking it. In either case, no foul was called. I don’t blame Stackhouse for what he did. I would probably do the same. Mavericks will win game 5 and close it out at home in game 6

    Comment by Anthony -

  513. Hey Melissa, how about if all you homers quit your bitching then i will quit posting? OK? Deal?

    Comment by Nicole -

  514. Then quit your bitching, it’s that simple. Why complain about the things we’re saying, but then continue to stay and read it all? Not only read, but also take time to respond to such useless banter. Doesn’t make sense to me, but have at it.

Stop trying to justify the fouls.
the nba went by the rules and have been consistent. Had Stack come even close to hitting the ball or his arms i would agree with you. Anyhow i’m off to south beach to meet Dirk for some becks beers at the delano.
    good luck 🙂
    Melissa your invited..

Flagrant Fouls: These fouls are considered unnecessary and/or excessive. There are two types of flagrant fouls, 1 and 2. A flagrant 1 is unnecessary contact. This is usually when a defensive player swings and makes hard contact with the offensive player or makes hard contact and then follows through. A flagrant foul 2 is unnecessary and excessive contact. This usually has a swinging motion, hard contact, and a follow through. Both fouls carry a penalty of two free throws and the team that was fouled retains possession. A flagrant foul 2 also results in an ejection of the player committing the foul. A player also is ejected if he commits two flagrant foul penalty 1’s.

    Comment by Vivek -

  519. LOL, ok so if it’s so useless why are you still here? Go elsewhere and let us homer our heads off to each other.

    Comment by Melissa -

  520. Mark – You need to tell Stern what a Lying, Discriminating Asshole he really is ! Mavs’ fans will contribute double whatever he decides to fine you. I’ll start the fund with $500.

    Comment by David -

  521. Wade is no Jordan but Stackhouse is no Wade and will never be close. The homerism is really sickening when you guys say this was not excessive. Watch it again and forget you’re a Mavs homer. Stackhouse lead with his damn elbow and then hit him in the face! How are you going for the ball if you lead with your elbow? If he wanted to just do a hard foul, he should’ve just pushed his body into Shaq’s chest. It’s so obvious but it’s really useless arguing with you homers.

  525. All you Dallas fans…I know you hate em cause you don’t got em!

Stackhouse just got caught on a dumb play….it’s like Football. The offensive
line never holds until they get caught.

Every players gets away with some fouls every now and then. All of you point
out Shaq elbowing, grabbing jerseys ect. If I sit there and just watch one
player I am sure I can point out just as many non-called fouls from any player.
But the ones that draw the most attention will get penalized the most.

The fact that Stackhouse went directly for his head while Shaq was in the air
was the worst part about it. I agree it’s the final, and he probably should have
not been suspended. But at the same time I was not shocked about the suspension.

Can’t Cuban appeal the suspension and try to have it overturned? Just don’t
want you Dallas Fans crying that the reason you lost game 5 was because the
    suspension.

    GO HEAT!!!!

What exactly is pointless? You said Avery can’t stand Cuban. Of course, he will work for him. Wouldn’t that be the same thing as being Chan Gailey as a Cowboys coach, you would be considered “Mark’s puppet”. Don’t just give up on your argument. Sell it to me. But I remind you, I live in the Dallas area and see alot of these two praising each other EVERY SINGLE DAY. And in case you missed this earlier I’ll put it on again, I’d like to hear your answer…

And again, as far as the Shaq thing, those are not stabs or insults, any more than it was when Shaq called Don Nelson the “clown coach” or Dirk “Irk” because he had no D in is game. That is good natured competitive ribbing. They don’t take it serious, why do you? How about the cartoon before game 3 in AAA themed after the Godfather, where Cuban wakes up with a severed bloody horsehead (Mavs logo included) next to him in bed? Is that disrespect? Should fines be assessed? Come on.

    Comment by Trey Allmon -

  542. andrea you are a retarded bitch and are the reason woman cant be called true sports fans, if cuban and avery johnson hate each other so much , why would he write this about him in may of 05 in this very blog

“Around that same period in time, I started having conversations with Avery Johnson about coming back as a player and then at some point after he retired, becoming a coach. I really wanted AJ here. He was the unsung hero of our 2002-3 playoff run. He ran practices and got in people’s faces when it needed to happen. When Portland ran off 3 straight against us, he was the voice in the locker room pushing the guys and the guys loved him and responded well to him.

Avery still wanted to play at that point, so we signed him to a 1 year deal as a player. He also told us that we should be going after Erick Dampier if we could work out a sign and trade with the Warriors.”

seems like they have a lot of respect for each other to me/

  545. Andrea, I think you are over stating that a little. Obviously it’s not that he can’t stand Cuban, he just didn’t agree with the statement. Of course, he’s a San Antonio icon, hitting the shot that won them their 1st championship. Like I said, it’s all gamesmanship. I’m sure if Avery couldn’t stand Cuban he’d have taken the offer to coach in San Antonio. I assume you’re not implicating that A.J. is not a man of high personnal morals and standards, although in a round-about way, you are saying that Avery is someone who is willing to compromise his standards for a championship. Neither one of us believe that. What happens when you’re coach and owner can’t stand each other is what transpired in 1995 with Jimmie Johnson and Jerry Jones. Cuban and Avery love each other, don’t doubt that.

    Comment by Shiloh -

  552. I didn’t say the water LOOK clear, it looks like the Chattahoochee! All I was saying is next time you are there, take the boat tour, dip a glass in the water, and see the result, if you haven’t done that, you can’t say anything. I was just there for game 7 Spurs/Mavs, water was clear!

    Comment by Andrea -

  553. The Heat are desperate. They will try to do anything to beat the Mavs. I will not be suprised if the two skanks that got into the Mavs locker room were hired by someone from the Heat organization. They were there to cause trouble, the very least, to get a couple of players suspended. Mavs just say No! You have plenty of time to paint the whole city of Miami from SoBe to Calle Ocho Green and Blue.

  555. I’m a Heat fan and I must say, the debates on this blog and other blogs are fun to follow, and it’s all part of the rivalry that comes with the NBA Finals, or any game for that mattter.

Disclaimer to the Dallas fans: Don’t confuse real Miami fans with Mavs-haters who have converted for whatever reason. Most people here insulting Cuban are probably the latter. Miami fans are just passionate about the sport and the team for making it to the finals…just like the Dallas fans.

East Coast Jessie: You’re infringing on the same rights if you tell javier he can’t say that. It’s just his opinion.

    May the best team win!

Lets all be more productive and make our voices be heard by David Stern and the rest of the brass running the NBA and let them know that we can’t have the refs be this way any longer. It really distracts from the great athletes we have playing in the NBA. I’m not in favor of having us go back to the old days where you had to take somebody’s head off to get a foul, however there has to be a happy medium from where we are today, where you just breathe on somebody and the whistle blows.

Sorry to ramble on, just some thoughts.

    GO MAVS!

  558. Javier Valdez…

Don’t take this the wrong way, but that’s retarded. How about if the State of Florida said you since this is “their house”, no more Cuban, Hatian, Mexican or German flags in those fair little bergs?

    And Andrea…

Wow, I have been in Texas all my life, been to the Riverwalk probably 20 times, and never have I seen a clear water. It honestly is a an armpit. And again, as far as the Shaq thing, those are not stabs or insults, any more than it was when Shaq called Don Nelson the “clown coach” or Dirk “Irk” because he had no D in is game. Comment by East Coast Jessie -

  562. Lets face it people the officiating in the playoffs this year have been terrible. I’m also a Mavs fan and I’m not about to blame the loss on the refs, we simply got it our head that the game was over and stopped playing with the aggressive D and offense that got us the lead.

If the Mavs had won the game I felt like we would have stole a win. We really didn’t play well except for the third quarter and the first 6 min. of the fourth. I felt like I was watching game one over again, when Terry was the only Mavs player that stepped up big.

    Comment by Josh -

  566. Hey guys…the yacht thing is getting ridiculous. As a Miami resident, I can tell you with 100% certainty…the local media is biased, scandalous, and at times irresponsible. I apologize to all the visiting Dallas fans. The whole ordeal with the sign thing is not because of its there…they just made a big deal because the owner of the boat (whoever it is), did not have a “permit” to display a sign of that size, etc. Complete bullshit…I say..it’s The Finals..both our teams are there for the 1st time…let’s have fun, and enjoy it. A lil friendly gesture like putting a sign up should be taken lightly..and as a joke at that. Local officials..from the major Manny Diaz to the commissioner Joe Arriola…well anyone who lives in Miami can tel you..they’re all a bunch of f’n thieves. Neither are very respected in my opinion…so don’t even bother with the boat story.

All the visiting Mavs fans…enjoy your time in Miami, and let’s hope we get this series back to the “Big D”.

  567. Poor Mark, I almost feel sorry for you.

    GO HEAT!

  568. You guys got a lot nerve to hammer the officals. You would’nt even be in the Finals if the officails had’nt bailed you out on numerous occasions, most notably Nowitzkis 3pt play in game 7 agains San Anton

  569. You Maverick fans are comical. What about that Phantom elbow charge that Shaq was called for on Nowitzki? Doesn’t a player need room to come down and make a move? Shaq did neither and was immediately called for a foul. Give me a break about the officials.

At least, Hubie is rooting for you all.

  570. ALL THE MAVS DID WAS GIVE THE HEAT LIFE, OR BETTER SAID WADE TOOK IT FROM THEM… 2 points, 1/2 a point or a 20 point margin the LOSS is worth the same… both sides can complain of the officiating equally, so it all evens out at the end… Dallas has three stud players, Miami has 2 and most of you all consider 1 stud (wade).. and yet Miami played your mavs tough in Game 1 and won game 3 and in THE most dramatic fashion in a long time… lets just hope that DIRK missed Free throw is not gonna HAUNT you all for a long time… GOODLUCK mavs…. & Go HEAT..

  571. the river in san antonio is so fucking filthy I wouldnt even urinate in it. even the people in san antonio are so filthy I wouldnt even urinate in their mouths.

  572. Just visited San Antonio and I did take a riverboat tour. I thought it was great and I decided that I would go back to San Antonio for a longer vacation BUT Mark’s right about that water. I was worried that some drunk might knock me in so I didn’t get too close to the edge.

However, I’m not blaming the city of San Antonio for that. It’s my understanding that they do dredge the river throughout the year, cleaning it up. As long as they allow the river to be that accessible to drunk morons, there will be filth. People do not respect public or private property any more. The only way that the city of San Antonio would ever be able to keep that river clean is to concrete it in and that would be a shame.

  573. I TOTALY AGREE WITH YOU MR. CUBAN THESE DAMN OFFICIALS NEED SOME BIG COKE BOTTLE GLASSES. I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY CAN’T SEE WHAT IS NOT EVEN 10 FEET AWAY FROM THEM. BUT IT’S OK I HAVE TWO PREDICTIONS BUT I WILL NOT SAY TI’LL WE WINS THIS. OH BECAUSE WE WILL !!!!!!!!!!!! GO MAVS GO MAVS GO MAVS!!!!!!! LET’S GO MAVS!!!!

  575. That’s the problem….Shaq or Wade would never get supsended for the same thing. Avery put it best today when me talked about how some players get royal treatment and always will. And for the love of god, can people PLEASE stop comparing Wade to Jordan. He plays sick for ONE game like Jordan did against Utah in the Finals and people think he’s the second coming of Jordan.

  577. It was a great game that could have gone either way at the end. If you look at the numbers Miami got more rebounds made 2 more FT and had a very inspiring effort from D. Wade who was injured early in the game and was recovering from the flu.
