Aloha Mark ~

I use the same basic principle, just changing the words and context around. Same meaning.

When I was a rookie office equipment salesman cold calling Downtown Los Angeles (talk about challenge) my sales manager told me \"Luck is where Preparation Meets Opportunity\".

I have changed it over the years to Luck is where Preparation Creates Opportunity.
Born and raised in Indiana, and graduated from IU. But I\'ve never liked Bobby Knight. I do think what MC points out from him is a true and great philosophy, but I think Knight is a spoiled bully who feels he should be allowed to do and say whatever he wants in the pursuit of winning. And THAT is unacceptable- I don\'t care who or where you are.

I read an article on you that AOL posted a while back and I have used that same quote which I now learned you paraphrase sometime BK said and used it as my quote under my signature on all my emails. Should I change it to Bobby instead of you?

Thanks Mark for sharing you experience with Bob Knight. Getting input from others is a great way to better yourself. For those people who don't get to interact with these types of people every day I have found that listening can be just as helpful. Garbage in, garbage out; I found this site and have found their weekly downloads a great influence. http://www.madeforsuccess.net/default.asp?AFF=475

Thanks again for sharing!

Interesting post, interesting character. Bobby Knight is a real contradiction, in some ways he represents both the best and worst. He represents the best in terms of working hard and supposedly running the cleanest program out there (some of the programs the media worships are actually not so clean). The media is so biased in this area, His work ethic also helps his players later in life, by teaching them you need to work really hard to achieve your goals, it doesn't just happen. He doesn't accept laziness and sloppiness and he is totally right in this regard.

I think some major temper tantrums are not nearly as bad as some of the coaches that are jerks in private and use the players. One of his major faults is an inability to let things go, harbor grudges, things like that. I thought the Neil Reed kid got a raw deal, he was supposedly a real hardnosed kid who was used as a whipping boy.
