It could also be a way to increase wages for employees which could increase spending, increased spending equals more sales taxes. It's a win win. It could be something like the 1st million in earnings is tax free (no taxes of any kind), 2nd million tax at 2%, 3rd million at 3%, etc. If it was based on employees companies could simply convert everyone but the top 25 people to contractors and run a tax free business even if they have billions in income. I tried to start a business the traditional way and was stymied at every juncture here in Texas. I had a great idea and had to shelve it because it cost too much to do it \"properly\". Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork, fees, fees, fees.. Who had time to sell real estate? It was just better off working under a large brokerage, let them deal with the logistics and send a portion of the commissions off to New Jersey somewhere.
