Finally Game Day…

Tom Petty was right. I hate the wait.

Just got to the arena.

Made sure i first got my protein. Stopped at 7-11 for my gourmet Tuna Fish Sandwich. Dentyne Ice to make sure no one else realizes I had a tuna fish sandwich and a Monster Lo Carb Drink. (Got to alternate between my faves…Kronik and Monster low carb)

Had to talk on the phone to the daughter of one of theclerks while the line backed up. The people behind me in line went from “Go Mavs” to “would you shut up already and let us buy our Big Gulps”. Hey, I can handle the pressure.

Can’t say I always ask for the ball at crunch time though. Signing an autograph for the clerk’s daughter was no problem. Seeing her come running out to my car asking me to personalize it to a name I would have to ask her to spell for me 5 times…well that wouldnt be fair to those people waiting. So I did the only logical thing. I just smiled from mycar, waved good bye and gave her the thumbs up as I pulled away.

I’m sure she thinks Im a choker.

Back to the waiting. The things that I have to do to make time fly.

Anyone who has been to a game here knows we take great pride in trying to come up with unique videos and songs that entertain and amuse our fans/customers. Its not always easy. We have great marketing people who have come up with classics like the Star Wars Nash vs Dirk – Cut your hair. But I like coming up with some ideas as well.

Some are good. Some not. But going through all the songs you hear, running through Itunes samples , reading email suggestions and just looking for clues can be fun.

One emailer sent in a great remake of Pinball Wizard to Free Throw Lizard. A little too long and harsh for us.

Im trying to come up with a nice way to turn the Hokey Pokey into the ShaqaPokey.. You put your elbow in, you put elbow out. You put elbow in and you smash it all about…Show some video from last game. But that was a bit harsh. For now.

Im also pushing our guys to redo this song. Its already a cheeselicious classic. Anything we can do that is a voice over of him singing the chorus surrounded by some fun Mavs lyrics. Well thats chart topping entertainment !

We are working on re doing the Charlie Daniels Band – The Souths Gonna Do it Again as the Mavs are going to do it again.

The list goes on and on.

What better way to kill the time till 7:30pm

Time to get ready to work out

  3. Its just goofy to think that such a “punk team” with the coach that looks like a chimp an owner that won’t shut his hole & a substandard maverhicks group with bandwagoneer trailertrash fans could beat the mighty Miami Heat with Coach Pat, them first two games were luck ,but I guess the mavs luck ran out, good try though there sport(s)! “The Heat is ……ON!….”

  4. Well Cuban put up a link to an article written by B Simmons, then Cuban wrote that Simmons put everything perfectly, so i read the article and the only reason Cuban liked the article is because Simmons is complaining exactly like Cuban, yall say that the refs screwed yall and that they decided game 5, which could be farther from the truth , you want to see refs deciding the outcome of games, go back to the Spurs dallas series, when it was so blatantly obvious, the nba even apologized to the Spurs and San Antonio for dick bavetta calling a t on us and giving yall a free point in an over time game, then there was the supposed foul on dirk in game 7 by Manu, tell me guys isn’t the hand part of the damn ball, well of course, then there was no foul called on dirk for pushing Duncan in the back, even Barkley made comments on the game about how bad the officiating was, but there was not one Spur that complained or said anything negative about anything even though once again it was extremely obvious, but with yall everyone complains like little fuckin girls, yall even have Avery doing it and he never used to do that, I just gotta say yall (the city of dallas)have no class your owner is an idiot and dirk is not a superstar, he is an all-star , there is a difference, he has no rings, no mvps and this is his first finals appearance in 6 or 7 years, but in the dallas Spurs series the refs treated him like if he was at Tim Duncan’s level, a living legend, but he wasn’t, anyways all I have to say is that you guys got what yall deserved !!!!!!!!!And that’s it, good luck next year, because yall have no chance against us.

  8. I think u are great and admire u for what u are doing. The one thing I notice is that when the Mavs make the Heat run they beat them. U need to get them to take it to them. Don’t let them beat u down the floor and get set up. You have a great team so tell them to run them to death. They cannot keep up and you will win by at least 20 points. I doubt that u will read this but hope u do and know that I think what u r doing is great!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Mark,

You’re a billionaire and you eat sandwiches from 7-11? I like you man – but that’s disgusting.

  10. The “Take me home” song , played during the last minute of warmups at knicks game would be an awesome song for dallas if you change around some of the words.

Its a rap/rock remix of john denvers “take me home, country roads”

you can only hear it at MSG , but song is awesome

  11. My kids used to listen to a cheesy song by Aaron Carter a few years ago – “That’s How I Beat Shaq” – super lame, but would be great at the AAC (hoping Sunday was the last home game this year…)

  12. How about the umphaloompa song from charlie and the cocolate factory. Don’t know exactly how to word the lyrics but it would catch peopls ear.

Let’s kick some butt tonight. As much as I’d like you guys to win this thing at home, let’s just get it over with in 4 and we’ll celebrate when you get back.

    GO MAVS!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. I have a couple really original ideas for you. But I doubt you’ll be able to use them until next year the way this series is going. What if you played that song “Rock n Roll Part 2” by Gary Glitter? Have you ever heard it? I bet it would really fire up the crowd. The other song that I know would be a total winner is the intro to “Eye in the Sky” by the Alan Parson’s Project. Great song. I bet if you had that playing and the spotlights going nuts all over the floor as the players are being introduced, the crowd would go totally freakin nuts! What do you think?

Oh and Skip Charlies Daniels, please!

By the way, don’t u know 7-11 sandwiches are gut busters!!

  29. Let’s get FIRED up! I hope the AAC is rocking tonight. I can’t wait to watch the pre-game show tonight, I hope you punk S. Smith again on the treadmill again. I never thought I’d say this, but I miss Ernie, the wanna-be JET and Barkley compared to these ESPN/ABC jokers.

    GL tonight, GO MAVS!

  30. That Hasselhoff video is hands down the WEIRDEST thing I’ve ever seen, even weirder than seeing him going into the mens’ restroom during home game 2 of the suns series!

He looked pretty old with deceptively thin hair (you know when a guy makes his hair really fluffy to make it seem as if he has a lot of it, works from a distance, but not up close). He probably shouldn’t have spent so much time in the california sun.

I so wish I was there tonight, but we’ll be having a watch party complete with lasagne and bruchetta out here in crazy Fort Worth!!

  32. Mark I emailed you in 2003 from Iraq and asked you for a Micheal Finley game jersey, you declined. I still have the email to prove this. Now I hope Miami bombs you like they did Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi last week. Dunk-Three-Dunk. Watch out!!!!!!!

  33. At work today (razzoo’s) i was listening in to a few people’s conversations and i heard the same thing a few times in a row, “yeah i started watching the mavs when they beat san antonio” or “yeah i didn’t really watch the mavs, but they’re in the playoffs now and they’re really good”.

As being a mavs fan, i hate to hear that kind of stuff, but it does lead you to one thing.

    We’re Here.

The biggest stage for a NBA team, now we just need to perform.

I was a fan ever since i could walk and talk and i remember my first game when the 3 J’s were here. I even remember they would have commercials on UPN (i think) and they would be really funny and 90esque.

Finally, we’re here. You deserve a big pat on the back Mr. Cuban, you started this. Despite if we win or lose this series, although i feel pretty confident about it, I will always be a Mavs fan for life~

So whether you’re just now here, or you’ve been here since we started, cheer your hearts out for the mavs!

    GO MAVS!!!

  34. The Hokey Pokey re-do is what fits best. I cannot STAND Shaq’s elbowing! DRIVES ME NUTS! Mostly because it never seems to get called, but considered “Part of the game” or “natural movement.” MY ASS!
The main thing I want to see the Mavs do is be more consistent on DEFENSE. REBOUND.
It’s been impressive to see Dirk not crap out around the end of the 3rd and come back last seconds of the 4th. The team’s SO improved since end of semi-finals!
    GO MAVS! BEAT HEAT!
